Installing lift soon, couple questions

Hey im looking to getting my lift installed soon, just had a couple questions

I got my TRD springs and Bilstein 5100s in the mail as well as my OME 890s just wondering what other pieces I would need to complete the lift install. Wondering if anyone has any tips or write ups to help when installing the lift as well. BTW all my lift components came from Rickashays LC/OME thread, I used the websites and part numbers he used in that write up

I don't have the TRD springs for the front but I do have the 890's. Make sure you put the correct spring on the appropriate side. There should be a sticker or something on the springs that marks them as A and B. I believe A goes on the driver side.

Some folks recommend the panhard bar drop bracket or the adjustable, or leaving it off all together. I don't know enough to recommend one way or the other. I went with the drop bracket (welding in a gusset soon) as to try and put it back to stock specs.

take your time and plan out the install before you start.

Whoaaaaa do not leave your panhard off!!! You will be fine with no drop bracket or aftermarket panhard. Just reattach the stock panhard bar.

Yeah don't leave the panhard off but I think Junr was talking about leaving the drop bracket off....atleast I think that's what he meant.

Thank you for the responses, still planning everything out just to make sure not to run into any problems while installing it

Have you done LBJ's, Inner/Outer Tie Rods? You should also look at extended sway bar links. I am running 2nd gen Rear links in the rear, and plan to run 2nd Gen rear links in the front as well, since they are about an inch longer than the stock front links.

Don't expect to get a perfect alignment after the lift either, your camber can be brought back to factory specs, but your caster will probably be close to 0 unless you replace the Upper Control arms with some from a company like Light Racing. Fat Bob's has the best price on them - about 400 shipped, which is at least 100 less than I have been able to find them anywhere else. http://4x4.fatbobsgarage.com/light-...ol-arms-toyota-tacoma-1995-12-2004-p7689.aspx

I haven't done LBJs but I'll definitely look into the upper control arms thank you for the advice

Will I need new top hats or can I use the 4runner ones with the TRD springs and Tundra bilstein 5100s? Is there anything I will need extra to finish installing the lift

You use the 4-Runner top hats with the Tundra springs/shocks. If you decide you want to replace them, go OEM only, as the KYB aftermarkets WILL NOT WORK if you later decide to go with a top plate spacer. The knurling on the aftermarket studs is slightly larger and does not fit the extended studs required for the spacer.

Make sure you've got a recip saw that can fit into tight spaces and lengthy wrenches for leverage. In the removal stage if you've got to stop and think just avoid the frustration and go for the saw. I wasted lots of time trying to engineer ways to remove rusty worn out parts.

To remove the rear shocks, just unbolt the lower bolt, and then bend the shock back and forth until the top nut breaks off. Trust me on this....it will save you about 2 hours of time trying to unbolt the top bolts which is impossible

What setting should I put the bilsteins on to get the least amount of rake as possible with the OME 890s

You don't need them, but people feel more comfortable with them. People have used both Tundra and 4runner isolators, so it's up to you.

Do you know if the dealerships sell them and the price?

Because I'm really trying to install my lift this weekend and dont want to wait for Wheelers to send some out, not to mention they only have aftermarket ones now

They might sell them, but they will cost a bit. Just call some stores and see if they have them. It's not the end of the world if they aren't the Tundra's.
