Installing Limited Gauges on an SR5?

Is it possible to install a gauge cluster from a Limited model to an SR5? Are the clusters compatible electrically? I like the Optitron feature.

Yep! I believe someone did this upgrade to thier sport edition truck. Do a search in the forum for it......this person liked the red dot following the needle deal or something other.

I don't stare at my speedo enough to justify this upgrade!

Yeah, a couple people have done it. The guage cluster is actually pretty easy to take out. The user Luxury is one who did the upgrade. Do a search.

I just searched it out and found that most of people that have made this change did so for the "dot" at the end of the needles. Wouldnt it be easier to have the needles changed from stock to the Limited needles. Other than the needles and the silver painted center to the speedo both are the same. It seems like the "dot" is the only upgrade??

I don't think the guy who started the thread realized that the T4R limiteds don't come with Optitron guages like the Sequioa or Sienna limiteds.

Now that I see pictures I would want to change them to the those too! The ones in the Sequoia look great.

I thought optitron technology was synomous with illuminated needles. After looking at a 2005 Camry I see the difference between Optitron technology and having just the needles illuminated.

Optitron is the way the numbes are backlit. It started in Lexus vehicles and is very bright white. They've since added other colors.

I wouldn't call the Limited's gauge cluster 'Optitron'. Optitron was originally first featured on the second generation GS300/400, all previous Lexuses had electroluminescent gauges. It does light up when you start the truck like Optitron gauges do, but it does not black out completely when it's off. The Limited's gauges are similar to the '05+ Tacoma one except for the needles. Optitron gauges are known for the vibrant color and clarity. More info on Optitron from Lexus, Lexus Europe and Toyota Caribbean. The Limited cluster is different from the SR5/Sport Edition, in addition to the needles. The various warning indicator lights are in different positions.

BTW, member Luxury's 4R is a Limited.
