Installing replacement seat cover

The leather on the driver's seat in our "07 Limited was tearing open and generally looking like crap. So I bought a leather replacement cover here 2007 2008 2009 Toyota 4Runner leather Seat cover driver side bottom gray | eBay

It arrived, and looks great, but there were no installation instructions, and I can't get the seller to reply to emails etc. Has anyone ever done this, or know to remove the old cover and install the new one?

It's about an hour drive for me to the nearest auto upholstry place, so I'd prefer to do this myself...

I am no help on the install part :-( , but how is the quality and color/texture match? I really want to replace mine too!

I did this in my IS250 several months back with no issues at all.
Just take the seat out of the car and take a look. It may take you a while to figure it out, but it shouldn't be hard at all to do.
Just be sure to have a work surface that won't scratch the leather as you flip and roll the seat over while working. I used a large piece of cardboard.
It took me less than an hour to do the Lexus seat, FWIW.

Its funny, when I opened the box I thought "the color isn't even close - either I ordered the wrong one, or the seller blew it". I always thought of the seats in the truck as more of a taupe color, and the new cover looked almost charcoal in my living room. Then I took it out and compared it to the old seat - it's identical. No complaints about the color or the texture.

Glad it's not just me. I had the same reaction to the color when I had an upholstery shop fix a rip.

I replaced a seat cover on my 3000GT a while back. Just take it out and look at what you have to work with. Be sure to remember where all of the hog rings came from, loosen them (or cut them with snips) take off cover, reverse process. Just take your time and make sure to stretch everything properly and it'll be fine.

There are more in-depth walkthroughs all over the internet for how to replace seat covers.

Good luck!

I'd love to see some photos when you're done. I'm in the process of a refurb on our '08, and the drivers seat is worn and torn, so I've been researching seat cover options.
