Installing SS rear brake lines, is there more then 2?

If you are changing to SS lines because you want the linear pedal performance & feel SS lines gives you, then I suspect it would not improve as much with rubber lines still part of the system. I couldn't tell you for sure, I went from all rubber to all SS.

SS lines have a totally different feel, and it was for the better. It’s a pretty significant difference. Braking performance became tighter and more predictable. Its very linear, meaning the more you push, the more braking you get. Its becomes much easier to modulate and gauge how much braking is applied. I find it to be very beneficial especially off-road.

Thinking back to when I installed, I feel like I really didn’t need a +2 in the front. I think I went with this kit because of line stretch concerns when at full rear flex but to be honest I don’t really remember all the details and I don’t know if I actually NEEDED a +2, but if you can install it without issues or kinks, I don’t see a problem with it either.

Yeah I get that, I guess I'm asking for feedback from those who haven't done the upper lines.

I plan on doing the lines (if I decide to) while doing a brake/suspension install, so if that stuff has to be loosened/removed while I'm there, maybe it would be worthwhile.

I just did all 6 and fresh fluid and holy cow the difference in pedal feel is much more than I expected. The middle lines aren’t bad at all as long as you have the truck jacked high using the frame not the rear axle and the right tools. I bought flare nut wrenches from Napa that were crap and flexed and stripped a couple nuts. I ended up just using vice grips to break the nuts loose and tighten them back up.

For those rears I used the little rubber nipples that cover the bleed screws on the calipers to slow down the dripping when lines were disconnected, gives you a little more time so you don’t rush. I also parked the truck on a layer of painters plastic which made clean up easy and kept brake fluid off my garage floor.

lol... this was like exactly my experience... I did the full 6 line set and it went somewhat similar to that.

Also used the Goodridge 6 line set that was linked above, got my +2" set off Amazon.

I treated myself to a nice used set of snap-on flare nut / line wrenches because believe me it was a rough and and guarantee at last one hard line fitting to be jacked up if you tried this with regular open end wrenches. I had leaks, which means more torque, and another round of bleeding. Yay. :cheer2:

The hardest and more irritating out of all 6 lines were the axle "the extra two", but now my brake feel pretty good. It took me some time to get used to it tho, and honestly at first was kinda pissed because the feel changed A LOT. But after driving it for a few thousand miles I started to understand why people put these things on.

I get a lot of linear pedal response and can really apply accordingly.

I hate those clips with a passion, and I needed to buy 2 more from Toyota to get them to hold in there. See how I doubled up on them up top... usually you only see one per.

I did this install in 2017, don't remember everything about it other than c-clips were not included with this kit.

I am not a mechanic, it's probably not that hard of an install, weekend warrior wrenching.

That said, everything is still holding up perfectly. It was most certainly worth the effort to do.
