installing warn m8000 on CBI hybrid?

So I installed my bumper, then went to install my winch...that's where the frustration kicked in. There was no way to get to bolts needed to bolt to the bottom of the winch. Even had my 8 year old try to get his hand in the gaps with no luck. So I took the bumper off hoping the hole in the rear of the bumper were the key, but still no dice. There isn't enough room to feed the bolt through the front mounting hole. What's the trick? If I had not just had the bumper line-x I would just cut an access slot in it...I'm still debating that!

You do have the front plate remove, right? I had no problems getting my M8000 in my CBI Hybrid. Solenoid mounting is another issue, but the winch itself bolted up no problem.

Take the bumper off then put the winch on.

No it definitely bolts on... For this very reason. Did you install the bumper yourself? If so you should have received it dissembled.

Read the last step of the install instructions. Do it in reverse.

These mythical bolts don't exist! I finally got it on working though the 1.5 inch hole in the back after several hours and many colorful words.

Directectly from them. Evidently they changed them up for the worst! If I didn't have 1k invested in this thing, I would have cut an access panel in the back. I had to use a telescopic magnet, small pry bar, oiled my arm so I could squeeze my arm in as far as I could between the frame rail mounts and finally got them in.. Huge PITA!

did you call CBI? they are very helpful in trouble shooting. i know from previous orders from them they are lacking in the instructions area, but a quick call and someone should be able to walk you through it.

I did not, figured they would be closed on Saturdays. I honesty don't think there's an easy way to do it. I worked it from every possible angle. Its in now, just took a long time to get it there.

Weird. The only issue I had with mine was frame mounting holes not lining up and having to enlarge them to fit. If mine had the front welded on like yours, I'm not sure I would have kept the bumper.

Same here on both accounts. If you look at the pictures on their site, the demo shots of it installed the holes aren't even line up. Missing bolts.

Very Strange.... I just installed mine several weeks ago. Every bolt matched up perfect. My front plate bolted on like it should.

You said you have $1K invested in this.... Was that maybe a discounted bumper? Even with the "Combo Deal' it's almost $1300, not counting shipping. Sometimes they will have a bumper they have built and the deal falls through so they sell at a discount. Could it be one of those?

Actually have about 1900 in it with shipping/winch/bumper/and line-x, but I wasn't counting the shipping or winch. This is what they sent. No discount bumper, was ordered and waited 4 weeks to have it built. I'll be calling in the morning to see what the deal is. I also have other problems with it, but I will discuss that with them Monday .

Talked to Nathan at CBI today. This is the current production line. I expressed how much of a pita it was to tighten the winch through the small cutouts. I told him it would be helpful if instead of the 3 small circles, they had a rectangle access plate.
