Instrument Binnacle - 1st gen

Dumb question - Is the instrument binnacle on the center top of 1st generation 4Runners' dashboards stock on all 1st gen units, optional from Toyota, or aftermarket? I was just wondering, as it would seem to be a good item to have, and why it wasn't carried to the 2nd generation (if it was stock or optional) is beyond me, unless they had too many problems and just scrapped it.

Was just wondering. Thanks for any replies.

define binnacle, please.

You can find out if you GOOGLE it.

Badwolf,

It was part of the SR5 trim package on 1st gen 4Runners (84-89). But even then wasn't always on every SR5 vehicle (my 84 has it but my 89 doesn't).

I'm not sure if it was carried over into the 2nd gen (90-95) Runners

Thanks - a binnacle is a pod filled with instruments, controls and dials. 1st Generation 4Runners had the tilt and approach/departure angle gauges and another one in a "pod" or binnacle on top of the center of the dash. I've never seen a 2nd gen 'Runner with something like this.

Any 2nd generations 4Runners get equipped with this?

Thanks.

oh the inclinometer.
my friend just bought an 86, three or four days ago and it came with one. THey are soo cool, I'd love to have one, but I bet i'd be hard pressed to find one in red (not that it really matters).
They only came on 1st gens afaik, and I want one :D
thats not to say it couldn't be fitted to a 2nd gen
