The plastic over the speedo on my used 4 runner came complete with scratches likely from the previous owner's a little dog's toenails. Eitherway, that plastic is very VERY susceptable to scratches from even paper towels. Only use Micro Fiber only when cleaning this plastic!
A new part can be had from any Toyota parts dealer for around $30. I cringed when the parts guy pulled the pristine piece from the box to inspect for cracks. I'm like dude you just put finger prints on my pristine plastic.
Anyhow...
Follow the how to remove dash parts here and here.
It is an easy 15 minute job. Take your time and work from left to right removing each retaining clip from its home position. Use care when replacing dash pieces so you do not bust a plastic clip.
Lastly, before putting the dash back on make sure to replace the two small screws at the top of the instrument cluster!!!!
Looks like a new car when done -
