Instrument Cluster Scratches II

OK sounds like Plexus Scratch Remover is the way to go to help our instrument cluster that scratches FOR NO F'ING REASON......anyone know where to buy it......(not online)?

A little dab of Brasso works great too. I've used it to polish out scratches on radio faceplates and clear plastic gauges like our cluster covers. A little goes a long way. Rub gently and check your work as you go. You will be surprised at how well it works. Make sure you use a clean cotton cloth like an old t-shirt cut in a small square and you wipe it off completely with another clean cotton cloth. Do not use paper towels or anything that might cause more scratches. Follow up with a clean micro fiber cloth and you will be scratch free, for now.
 
yea, it does work. i used to use that on my "Swatch" watches lens.... it can restore at least 95% of the plastic lens.
 
Yup Brasso. I think the new bottles it comes in is plastic. It's a very very mild abrasive like plastic polish. It will not harm your lenses. FYI you can find most plastic polish at say Pep Boys or Autozone's detailing and wax dept area.
 
Cluster scratches remain

...........tried the Brasso. made it much worse. got some Macguires Plastix and used that which brought it back to the state prior to brasso. still scratched.

Someone posted the link a while back to partznet.com for a replacement cluster and I picked one up for around $15. GOing to wait until it's really nasty before the swap.

Yeah, they are fairly cheap...someone also had the idea of putting a very light tint on it to try and help prevent scratching the new one.
 
Anyone know if this is a warrenty issue? My buddy has an xterra that had the same problem, fixed it for free under warrenty.

Do a search -- I believe some members have had theirs replaced under warranty.
 
My question is: Why the hell does Toyota keep cheaping out on this? All my Honda cars never had this problem and I wipe the sh*t out of them too (with grit n all). Also I notice my center console display is starting to get blurred in some areas. Very ghey!

I think Toyota has always cheaped out on their interiors, correct me if I'm wrong. I love the rig though, don't get me wrong. :biggrin2:
 
I disagree, it's just been the newer toyotas. 3rd gen's are pretty solid inside, atleast my friend's was. Not to mention plenty of other older toyotas.
