instrument gauge cluster

Ok, so I have a 96 sr5 and I was wondering if anyone with the older model cluster had swapped out their instrument cluster gauge with one from a 2000-02,

those are the electronic ones right??

are there issues with going from a mechanical odometer to an electronic?

are the plugs/adapters the same? anyone try this yet??

Ok, so are the plugs the same? how hard would it be to swap mine out with one from a 99-02? Just some wire splicing??

It should work if the plugs are the same, although the odometers in our runners are "mechanical" they are still electronically controlled only difference is that ours has the numbered barrells and the new ones are a digital. So if the plugs are the same I dont see why it wouldnt work, dont know how you would match up the miles from your old odometer to the new one.
