I just bought my dad's 2005 SR5 and he said it would be $400/ 6 months if it was in my name and I have never even been pulled over (I'm 22). I'm also in the midwest which I believe has some impact in that. If you had to ask me, you're overpaying.

I pay $600 CDN/year (about $450 USD). Full coverage: 1 million liability, fire/theft/vandalism, & collision. So I'm 100% covered except glass for $50 CDN a month :D

28 years
2 - 24 hour suspensions
1 - 50 km/h over speed limit ticket 3 years ago

Are they at least using a lubricant?

Western NY here, age over 50, clean record, been with the same company 10+ years, ~ $375/6 Mo.

The price in the OP does sound a little high, but there are a LOT of variables. Age, marital status, driving record, claim history, credit score, ZIP code where the car is garaged/registered, limits, deductibles, optional coverages, multi-car discount, multi-line (like car + house) discount, and the company's past experience with that car model all affect the price.

If you think you're too high, it doesn't hurt to get quotes elsewhere. The only drawback to changing is that it could take a couple of years to get the full benefits of a safe record/accident-free discount.

I switched companies last month. In my case I got more coverage on my house, kept the same coverage on my autos, DOUBLED my umbrella policy and save $300/year.
Many of the factors you listed above worked in my favor. The new company placed different weighs on some of those factors compared to the prior company which allowed me to increase some coverages and save $$$ also.

When it comes to some companies, the discount/benefits for a safe/accident-free record may not be as big a factor.
In my case, with my former and current companies that is true.

I have higher than the state minimums for liability and medical coverage (can't remember what those are). I also get other financial services from USAA (money market account, Roth IRA, etc.) which helps just a bit with my premiums.

Wawanesa
2005 V8 4x4
32 yrs old
$1105/yr
Multi Driver discount, good driver discount, persistency discount.
Orange County, CA

I think Wawanesa Ins is supposed to be up there in customer satisfaction.

I have to re-new in May. They usually give me a discount every year. About $40/yr.

I might try Amica and see what they offer. JD Power ranks them the highest in customer satisfaction 9 years in a row.

Would you guys pay extra do be with a company that has high marks in customer satisfaction or save some money and deal with a poor insurance company?
