intake installed... but weird smell

i just installed a k&n full intake on my 05 4runner. i noticed an almost gunpowder eggy smell coming from the front of the car every time i hit the gas. this didnt happen before i installed the intake. is this the intake making that smell and if it is will it go away?

Hmm thats weird... if it were me Id just drive it for a while longer and see. I know when I put my exhaust on my RX8 it smelled like crap for the first few days. Maybe this is the same kinda thing. BTW I have an 05 too... where did you get your intake?

Open the hood and recheck everything. Something is not right.
The intake flows only cold air and should not make any smell.

Maybe a vac hose or electrical connection?

Then again you could keep driving it until something really goes wrong.

The only rotten egg / gunpowder / sulfur smell comes from the catalytic converter when it's flooded by unburned gas, due to excessive acceleration.

i got my intake off of ebay. brand new it was like 220ish

Emission system. It's definately exhaust related. Some of the particles are recirculated by emission system. Something got disconected or bypased. Trace all install steps, check all connections, vacuum hoses, valves and all fitings.

That weird I have the same intake and did not smell anything weird after I install it?
did you remember to remove the foam packaging eggs thingy inside the K&N cone filter when you install it??

i think the smell went away... im gona give it another week or 2. if i smell it again i'm going to switch back to the old intake. i dont know if this means anything but the car only had 1000 miles when i had the intake put on so i dont know .
