though it was a cool looking 4runner, but has a tooon of miles. anybody know what kind of job he is talking about he would need all of those things for?

Forestry jobs maybe but for that many miles I wouldn't pay over $4k for it since even for a Toyota it could be getting tired.

use that for a play toy till the engine went out. then you could use it for parts for my 4runner

If it's been well maintained I wouldn't be afraid of it, I have one w/ 200k and my brother has one w/ over 350k on it. And all we have done is regular maintenence and timing belts, As for the price KBB says it's worth between $7100-8800. It doesn't sound like that bad of a deal to me, I'd offer him $5500-$6000.

I know the job - he's an insurance adjuster. I was an adjuster for 4 years and made unbelievable money at it. You go in right after natural disasters. Your vehicle is a rolling office. GPS to get to lots where tornados have blown the house away or down. computer to file reports. thats also why the miles are high.

sounds like it would be a pretty cool job. is it dangerous though? like i dont really think i'd wanna be riding around in some post-katrina areas in new orleans.

Not really. The only danger would be in people thinking you have cash or govt checks on you. I carried, and never had any situations anyway. The real dangers arent actually people, but snakes, loose dogs, and power lines, etc. Flooded areas have snakes all over. Wear thick, high boots.

It was fun, and would do it again anytime. problem is, my regular job doesnt like me just leaving without notice. You've got to go within 24 hrs of when the ins co. calls you. Same with FEMA, worked for them too.

i looked up more info on it and it says there is not really a 4 year degree for it, but a liberal arts one usually works. i'm working on my history major now as i want to be a history teacher, would something like that work? it sounds like something i'd like as i'd get to be outdoors and work with people and try to help them.

yeah, this would be excellent experience with people, for someone who hopes to teach down the road. Its a perfect job for the young, without a wife and family yet, and the retired.

Id encourage anyone to try it out, as I had a great experience with it. You might try dipping your toe in first by applpying with Parsons Brinkerhoff and their FEMA housing project division, to become a housing inspector - (http://www.pbdisasterservices.com/).

Its much less hassle than working as an actual insurance inspector and the training is free. The work is simplified compared with all the policy knowledge you need as an insurance adjuster, and people are glad to see you, but suspicious of anyone working for the ins co. Thats kind of nice

Just register up, go to some training, and be ready to jump with the basic supplies to live and work out of your car. Feel free to pm me for more info.

occupation

I was interested in this t4r when i saw it on here so I shot the owner an e-mail. his occupation is actually installing and repairing electronics in movie theaters around the US. Also all the tech gear in the vehicle was simply to make travel and life on the road easier...fyi

ok, thats very wierd because thats my current job as well. I drive all over to theatres and install digital movie projectors. I drive a civic hybrid though, to make as much money as possible on the mileage they pay me.
