Interesting difference Between 4Runner Brochure & Actual Vehicle

I just though i'd bring this up. I was at my local dealer having some service work done and i was sitting in the waiting area. there were a few old brochures laying around and one was a '08 runner. in the back in the features section was a list of options and standard features and there it was. WIPERS- delay with MIST feature.

i thought it was kinda funny that Toyota listed the Runners with this STANDARD feature but they never came with them from the factory. i could see if this was a first year '03 but an '08 listing it.....

My 03 Sport has some rear-solution sprayer thing that pumps fluid back there and it works. Dunno if thats a "mist" device, but it makes a
lil difference sometimes.

Isn't that what our T4R (and virtually every car on the road) has? The wipers, front and back, have a variable delay setting and a mist feature for window cleaning.

What did you think it was?

+1 My solara has the mist function. Push the wiber stalk up instead of down and get one swipe of the wipers. The washers are called the spray function.

If YOUR T4R doesn't have intermittent wipers front and rear with "mist" feature, you should be pissed.

Intermittent is NOT the same as mist. Mist is one swipe, intermittent is a longer time between swipes.

I wish we had mist. Maybe its one of those features you never knew you needed until you have had it.

So true. My girlfriend's ford has is and is awesome! I don't understand why we don't have it. And why is it advertised that we do? I wonder if they meant to put it in but put the wrong code in or something on the assembly machine and now no one has it HAHA

"Mist" likely means different things to different manufacturers. It's really no different than some cars that forget the cruise/speed control setting below a certain speed while others will store it all the way down to a complete stop, IMO.

In the case of the 4R, pull the lever toward you and you'll get a couple of swipes of the wipers after the washer fluid is sprayed...likely Toyota's idea of "mist". Not that I use it as such, but I do like the idea of giving the blades an extra bit of lubrication...nothing worse than trying to wipe a windshield that's not wet enough, especially with the hydrophobic coating some of us have. My own implementation of "mist" is simply flicking to the intermittent setting and back off when the conditions don't warrant even the longest delay setting...doesn't seem like any more work than the Audi/Solara/Ford implementations mentioned. YMMV.

Mist is a feature that one twist of the stalk and it wipes the blades once, delay is when you turn the wipers on and it has a preset time that the wipers turn on and off. the rear delay has nothing to do with the ft which is one of the big complaints with our 4runners. all my other cars have them, even my 442's.

as for the equinox question, it is the biggest POS i have ever driven, rides like crap, seats feel like i am sitting on rocks, its noisy and the road noise is deafining, the AWD system sucks, drives like it is rear wheel drive, it has had so many problems in 1 year. i still have to take it to the dealer for more problems.

wow!! Thanks for the detail on what you dont like about the Chevy. My gal is basing more on the looks rather than the performance. Little irritating but i can respect that. Trying to push her into a Highlander but she isnt a fan of the body style and theyve been getting some bad press supposedly.

Whatever you call it, Mrs B's '06 Sienna will do the one swipe thing, my 4R does not.

I have intermittent front/rear and no mist option. Every other vehicle Ive owned had it, I believe even my 1996 runner had it. Hit the stalk up once and it wipes once instead of having to turn them on then off all the time for one swipe.
