Interior Carpet Replacement???

I, too, am surprised and sad to see that Toyota hasn't released aftermarket molded kits. Many years ago I had a motorcycle battery tip over in a car. I ordered a nice $250 replacement carpet and took out the seats and replaced it. I've been looking for years for the 4th gens to have molded kits available, but no such luck.
Might consider the weathertech mats, along with pulling out the carpet and cleaning it. Is this pretty easy to pull out? I'm guessing you need to pull the seats and the center console and some floor trim? And any generic padding will do underneath?

Their website has pretty good reviews.
For that price, even if just for the passenger area I think it's pretty good. The rear cargo area is pretty flat, you can probably cut that to shapre with by the yard carpet pretty easy.

I may go this route now. I spilled fish sauce on mine last summer, and no amount of washing, and carpet spray is 100% effective at eliminating that not so fond memory of spilled Thai papaya salad.....,

I have a couple pics of my home depot carpet in my build thread. the home depot route is based on skill and what you expect out of the job. I have weathertechs and it covers most my flooring. there is a fold i by the the front seat mount that i need to sew and its a little floppy by the rear driveshaft tunnel. if you have the time and skill then do it this way. After the sound deadening and foam i added the profit may look a lil wonky.
the home depot carpet is thicker then OEM for sure and better then ACC carpet kit i put in a previous car i had. either way you go your gonna need to get weathertechs. Aftermarket molded carpet doesn't fit or have the quality then OEM.

I really like all black interiors, so I'm still thinking about this new carpet despite the many other repairs I need to get done first lol.
New 02 sensors on their way, as well as a liftgate lock assembly because my liftgate is held shut by a ratchet strap! In Canada everything is more expensive - the shipping on that carpet is the same price as the product lol.
I should also probably focus on the rust in the undercarriage before getting new seat covers too.
I just ordered the acc vinyl carpet because i got bleach stains on my carpet and they were starting to stink with it being a 05, i have heard some reviews on it being hard to install but everyone who is not pleased with it rushed the install, but with summer now I have nothing but time, i have weather techs but if i installed a new carpet then a passenger or myself spilled something like coffee on the new carpet i would be pissed, the total cost was 200 including shipping to Canada , ill keep the weather techs in though just to keep in the dirt and water from snow off my shoes in the winter, also the mud after dirtbiking.

RockAuto has a listing for 4th gen carpets, although not in stock. I wonder if this is their supplier.
my truck is currently having this installed along with a completely new interior and sound insulation. Hoping to have it back in the next two weeks. The installer is recovering from surgery and unfortunately was not able to finish the work before he had his surgery. will post pics when it is done. i have seen the vinyl flooring though. it is very high quality and rather thick. since this is used as my ski truck it will be so much better as it is always wet inside during the winter.

Yeah, I got seafood on my rear cargo area carpet. Pulled everything out, stripping it down the metal, and after lots of cleaning, it's improved, but still not gone.
Looking for something pre-cut for the cargo area. May go to an auto upholstery
shop and ask for a quote for them to do it (using the existing as a template).
Definitely plan to replace the padding... that's cheap enough to do.
May add some closed cell foam covered by Mass Loaded Vinyl to replace the existing padding... I've already upgraded the whole sound system, and put down about 30% coverage of aluminum covered butyl rubber (Off-brand version of Dynomat... no need to pay for the name brand... but make sure it has butyl rubber and not asphalt for the sticky part) , but the extra sound proofing could help.
I'll post back here if I find any good solutions -- either aftermarket or OEM -- that make it easy, or if anything works out especially well for me.
P.S. -- I know this is an old thread that has been revived a few times.
I've revived it again, because I have the same problem, so I thought I'd continue the conversation, and share (for others in the future) if I find any good solutions.

I bought a used Chevy Suburban from a shrimper, his wife drove it for years and then got a new one so he then used it to haul his shrimp to market, the price was too good to not buy it but it smelled like dead shrimp inside, nasty, but I was up to the challenge for the price.
I stripped the entire interior out and left it out in the sun and rain for 4 weeks and also cleaned it with uphostery cleaner 4 times, after the 4 weeks put it all back together and the smell was all but gone, I know that the sun can do amazing things to make things smell fresh from growing up and not having a clothes dryer and we hung all of our laundry on the clothes line to dry, there's no fresher smell than clothes dried outside in the sunshine, just something to think about to eliminate odors!!

Yes entire interior, the PO used it for 4 years to haul his shrimp, the smell was horrendous, removed all the carpet, padding, sound deaden material, head liner, door panels, stripped it down to bare metal and cleaned all the bare metal with soapy water and then vinegar numerous times, but I didn't removed the dash pad, but I did dissconnect the battery and left all the doors open for the entire 4 weeks parked in full sunlight, I did have a very faint smell after putting all back together I think coming from the dash but it went away after another few weeks after driving it regularly, it was a 1988 and only had 40,000 on it when I bought it and we drove it for another 10 years and it had 230,000 miles on it when I sold it still running strong, but the paint and interior was shot.

Wow. That's dedication to a deal! I don't think I'd have had the patience to do that but I tip my hat to you on it. How difficult was the removal process?

Not really all that bad of a job, it took 2 days to remove everything and aother 2 days putting it back together plus the cleaning effort which my wife did much of that since it was going to be her truck, I have over 40 years experience in working on motor vehicles and vehicles in 1988 weren't nearly as complicated as they are now-a-days, more mechanical than electronic.
Other than the smell the truck was in excellent condition with low miles and the seller was wanting it gone, I got it for 1/4 of the book value so the job was very well worth the effort, after my effort I gained about $5000 to $6000 back in it's value in 4 weeks time!!

Hi I’m trying to use this forum thing. And i wanted to know if you bought the carpet brand new online or had someone make it for you? I have cream interior on my limited and the dash is so awful too. So I’d want to fix the dash and make the carpet black. Any help I’d appreciate. Thank you, Dominique

I have just done a good bit of resarch online for carpet for my 1997 4Runner. Pricing ranged from $130 to over $1000 so there are a lot of alternatives and different options. I settled on Stockinteriors.com complete package for my 4Runner because they seem to have to have the very good quality at the most reasonable price I got the complete front passenger and rear package (rear includes rear area, wheel wells, and rear seat backs) for $300.
