Interior ceiling storage idea implemented

I have been looking for ways to create some interior storage options. I then ran across this thread on the 5th gen forum from j-blicks:

I adapted his daisy chain idea and went to town on it: my thermarest pad and sleeping are now up on the ceiling, with more options for hanging stuff from the daisy chains (currently only my LED lantern). Sleeping gear takes up a lot of room and I have tried carrying it a few different ways in the past without being thrilled by each method (rolled up, laid flat in cargo area etc.) It is also recommended to store the self inflating thermarest pads unrolled so it works out.

The daisy chains I bought on amazon for $15 a pop and the diagonal brace is just climbing webbing from REI (dirt cheap, 36 cents a foot). I will report back after using it to see how it holds up in everyday use, but so far, it looks promising.

The thermarest goes inside the sleeping bag:

This is an awesome build! I just posted a thread asking about ways to store stuff on my ceiling! I might consider what you're doing, so long as it can hold enough weight.
 
Storage

I like it! I have been trying to take advantage of that space as well. I ended up using a net from Cabelas that was 19.99. The hooks it has don't work so I used paracord to attach to the four corners. It looks better than in the photo as I was able to equalize the tension. It works well and can support a fair amount of weight.

That's pretty nice. I used the Toyota cargo net and put it up top but it sags terribly even with some bungees criss-crossed to give it support.

definitely a cool and cheaper alternative!!! love to see ppl on here DIY things on theirs rigs!

I'm considering just setting up one or two brackets near the trunk door and then threading a hammock strap through those towards the roof handles in an X shape. I don't necessarily need an entire net, but just having some space to hang things or store small items would be great.

I put D-rings on the back panels so I could strap 5 gallon buckets onto the rear. Gotta have a toolbucket and another 5 gallon with water and all the other necessaries. The D-rings screwed into the plastic are surpringly stout.
