Interior cleaning and wheel wells

What do you guys use to clean the interior: dashboard, doors, armrest, etc? I have Griot's Rubber Dressing but it really doesn't clean. It gives it more of a shine. I heard that "green" product (Dammit, I cant remember the name) is good. Will it damage my interior?

With regards to plastic polishes, what is recommended? I have some swirly swirls on my instrument panels.

Also, what do you use to clean the wheel wells? Soap and water is just not doing it for me. Just wondering if you use something special.

All I use for the interior is good old water applied with a microfibre towel.

As for the wheels and tires I have a scrub sponge that I use for ONLY the tires and wheels. I can get into the knooks and crannies of the wheels with the sponge. For the wheel wells, I don't bother doing anything other than spraying water. Don't want to put too much effort into something that gets dirty very quickly.

For my interior I usually use a wet microfiber cloth to wipe it down, then put on some Einszett Cockpit Premium . This stuff is really interesting. It's a mild cleaner with some protective qualities. I really like it. I try to do it at least once a week, it's like a quick detailer for your interior. I apply a regular rubber/vinyl dressing every other month.

For my wheel wells, I've only had to use a strong solution of car wash soap and water. It's been relatively clean since new. On the other cars though, I use an All-purpose cleaner made by Meguiar's. It's called All Purpose Cleaner Plus and is part of their "Detailer" line. You can dilute it to a specific strength suitable for your purposes. It's also an excellent carpet cleaner and interior cleaner (might be useful for your first concern). I usually apply a vinyl/rubber dressing on the plastic parts of the wheel wells so that they are easier to clean later on.

After trying many, many different things over the years, I've settled on Tuff Stuff to clean the interior, when necessary, and 303 Protectant once a month, or so, to put a nice finish on the interior.

But here's a new one I read on Autopia or Detail city: Raid the wife's cleaning closet and use her Mop N Glo for the wheel wells. IT WORKS GREAT! Clean the wheelwells with whatever you like (I use Simple Green) and then finish with Mop n Glow. Puts on a very nice finish that they say is similar to Meguiars Engine Kote- I dunno, I've never used it, but it seems very durable and very easy to clean up for maintainance. A damp rag will do a lot of touchup if things get dusty under there.

MNG also works very nicely on the engine and any visible black surfaces like the skid plates, etc.

FWIW, I used to just spray No Touch in the wheel wells once in a while. It worked pretty well, but the MNG is MUCH better.

I use this product as well, I used to be a member of a VW forum and it was VERY popular, and the stuff works perfect. It's one of the few non griot's products I use.

I highly recommend it!
