Interior Door Handle LEDs

So I ordered all the OEM parts to install the interior door handle LED's. Only ordered the fronts, in case I couldn't get it to work.

Everything clipped into place no problem once I got the door panels off. However, they dont work :(

I suppose the factory wiring harness doesn't have the wiring for these to work, even with the correct wire harness for the doors themselves.

So now I need to know, can I simply tap into the power and ground that powers the LED in the windows switches themselves? Can anyone help me figure out which wires I would need to tap, if this is possible...

Antman, did you have any trouble gettin your LEDs to work on teh drivers door.

passengers side worked just fine tapping into the wires as in your tutorial, but the drivers side wont work. I used taps on teh passengers side, tried them on the drivers side and nothing. tried reversing them, even cut the harness and tried connecting the wires that way, still nothing...but the light does work if connected to a 9v battery. Is it possible that it draws too much current for the drivers side?i dont get it...

nevermind. Got it working. For some reason the taps that I used on the passenger's side just wouldn't work on the drivers side. Ended up soldering them and got everything working finally. A little unnerving cutting into the factory harness, but it worked. Will post pics

BTW, if anyone else tries to do this, on the factory harness the two wires that lead to the LED are red and blue. Red = positive. Blue = Negative.

Glad you got them working! One note for you- wired up this way, the passenger door LED will not light up if the window override switch is pressed in on the drivers door. In case you never noticed, all the power window switches, except the drivers, do not light when that switch is pressed in.

What color are those LED's?

^The LED's are amber in color.

Just reviving this thread as I'm going to attempt to do the same mod on the rear doors now. The fronts have been working great since I installed them a few years ago.
Antman just wondering if you did LED's in the rear door handle and if you happened to note which color of wires you tapped?

Never did the back- child locks are always on and I don't want my youngest to be able to see the handle AT ALL.

She would find a way to open the impossible!:biggrin1:

I can't help you with the part numbers. But I wanted to thank you for digging up this thread and asking your question.

Well thank you, for thanking me, for digging up this thread and asking a question. :first:

If anyone does know the part numbers on this, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to try this on my 2014 (blue lights), and want to keep the oem look as much as possible.
