Interior Hood Release Handle

I just installed a remote start kit, but am having trouble re-assembling the hood release latch. I think I understand how the cable attaches to the handle, but not sure how the spring is oriented. This is the only pic I got of it assembled:

and this is a better pic of the handle/spring:

Any idea how I'm supposed to align the spring?

I was missing where the spring mounted to the tan bracket.
