Interior LED light comparison

I recently caught Nyvram's post about interior LED dome lights. I picked up a set of lights he mentioned. Catch his post at:

The bulbs came in today and I figured I would post a few honest pictures of the results. I'm using a Canon t1i and the pictures were taken with the exact same settings, on a tri-pod. Overall, the new bulbs are not really any brighter than factory but the light color is actually much more usable. Not bad for a $3 upgrade for both dome lights.

I bought the same ones and got them in Tuesday. The quality isn't very good in my opinion. I ordered 4, two of which were bonded together. However, I was able to break them apart. The light is too blue/purple for my liking. One LED was blue and the other was purple. These werent even close to the same quality LEDs I purchased from So LED. I would get So LED or pFrans kit if you want really good lighting.

I've bought LED panels from E-bay, and love the light output. Everyone who see's my interior lights, tell me they are bright as hell! lol!

Here's a night shot in my Taco...

Here's a shot of my 4Runner... both the cargo and dome lights are on:

These panels are inexpensive.... and come with multiple bulb type adapters...

You can also get 12 LED panels for the Map lights (fit my 98... but might be different if you have a different model year).

I simply secured them to the inside of the dome lens with packing tape and used the appropriate adapter. You can't see the packing tape from the outside... an the light output is freaking nuts! ;)

Overall, I wasn't impressed either. It sounds like you got a rough mix of lights. I do like the color of the lights I received but they are also very white. They don't lean into the blues too much. I'm already shopping for other options. I'll have to look up pFrans. My previous searches came up will suppliers that were no longer selling LED kits.

as fightman80 said the 24, 48, 52 SMD led panels are the way to go guys.

They are bright as hell and light up EVERYTHING. just go to ebay and search 5050 led panel. 5050 is the type of led diode (large and huge output)

For under 4-5 bucks a piece, i can't see why anyone would just get the 6 or 9 diode festoon bulbs when you get get 4 to 9 times the amount of light for the same price.

fightman80,
Your lighting looks really good. I'm going to check out those light panels. Do you think you could have installed bigger panels? I've been looking into some 48SMD panels for the dome lights that I think will fit. Do you have a picture of the lights installed with the covers off?
