interior light just went very dim all of the sudden?

they would get bright after about a minute for a couple of days now they are dim all the time (not a charging issue) headlights and exterior lights are fine I do have an aftermarket navi system so the dimmer stopped working after the install.

Any ideas?

Unplug the aftermarket navi and see if the issue goes away. If yes then the unit could be drawing more power than can be supplied to other light in that circuit if u find this to be the case then you're going to have to create a circuit and have a hot wire bypassing everything and going straight to the battery w/ a fuse installed just in case.

I just did that to no avl same issue, I think next I will check the dimmer switch itself to see what may be going on there?
The dimmer (orange wire) is not hooked up in the harness and it has worked this way for months which I just do not know what would have gone wrong seemingly out of the blue like this

Possible the rheostat (dimmer switch) varies resistance in an electric circuit so the resistance getting to those light could be dim or brighten, but in the wiring diagram I do believe from memory the radio doesn't go through the rheostat (I could be wrong).... Measuring your volts at a light and volt at the switch could give a idea of the issue.

If you are referring to the dome and cargo light being dim it's not part of the dimmer control.

Are map lights and dome and cargo lights dim? Or instrument cluster lights dim?

It's the cluster and hvac as well as the shift selector basically everything that is on the dimmer circuit.

Yeah I'm going to say it's your rheostat failing. They do have a tendency to do that from time to time. $5 at a junkyard or you could probably find one online.

Even if it's not the problem, it's not like it's hard to replace or anything or expensive.

I just bypassed it however I can not tell as the Fl sun is just to much to tell if they are on full power or not so I will report back after sun down.
