Interior panelling

Just picked up a can of clear from my local auto paint store.. They also had a whole wall of SEM products.

Single Source Inc | Automotive Paint Distributors | PPG Platinum Distributor

Stopped by the local auto parts store today and found they can order most SEM products, just a matter of my determining which shade of gray.

Yet to receive the SEM products ordered, not willing to wait so completed painting the interior panels, now only have to repair dash then paint. The dash pad appears slightly lighter than the Dupli-Color charcoal gray (HV111), looking at the SEM 15393, medium gray?

For info purpose Re: spare tire rack on the back of my 4 runner. Over these many years used 'back to black' products and now find the items turn color within a short period of time; decided to spear-o-ment and painted the rack and 2 trim pieces using SEM 17013, midnight black, too early to tell, but quite and improvement, how long it will last is another question??

Again, I be thanking you for the information and product source!!

This video inspired me to try recovering the dash with vinyl. I have a spare dash to experiment with.

Found the 'how to' video, very informative. The dash on my 90 has 3 thin cracks that just run the length of the padding. Already purchased a 'dash repair kit' if it does not come out satisfactory I would not have a problem tackling the project with the aid of the video.

Thank you for the information and video!!

I'm sure the dupli-color will do the job, not sure of the longetivity though, which is why most of us recommend the SEM paints, its what we have experience with.

Hopefully it works as well as the SEM for you, and if it does, definitely let us know! SEM is expensive and a pain in the butt to get for most of us (I too have to order from online stores), so having something that's easy to find over the counter is always good.

I know where to buy SEM paint local if you ever need some more.

I would appreciate the information. After making the rounds I was unable to locate over the counter SEM products so I ordered the SEM Med Gray; hopefully a close enough match for the dash, should arrive today.

Meantime; replaced items in my original SEM order only to find Fed X delivered the package to an unoccupied house. 2 plus weeks later another resident retrieved the package and stopped a UPS driver familiar with my name and address and immediately informed me of its location. Now have few SEM products no longer need.

Again, would appreciate the info!

looking forward to seeing how it comes out. I might try either this method or the plastic filler rod; either way I need to v-groove out the cracks and fill since it's a padded dash and it's curled up at the cracks.
