Intermittent Blinker Sound?

2002 Sport, 6 months new to me. PO has a fancy remote start alarm installed. I recently had a 7 pin round trailer hookup installed with brake booster.

Today as I got in my truck and started it up, a clicking sound, much like a blinker, and seeming to be coming from the same place underneath the dash, started going off. Blinkers were not on, neither were hazards. When I turned the blinker on they made their sound at the same time as the weird clicking so they were both on at once. Hazards as well when I tested them.

They go on randomly when I drive too. They will start and stop at will with no apparent pattern, such as braking.

Any ideas?

Well if only major change was the trailer hookup, I'd ask those folks if there is a possible relation. Would seem strange if it didn't do it before the 7pin hookup.

Some on here say it's not possible to hookup a 7pin to our 4pin system? I don't know the answer for certain - perhaps someone else will chime in. :cowboy:

Thanks. It was more than an adapter. It was a total re-do... into the brake wiring, etc. And it works like a charm both times I've used it on 500 mile hauls.

Before the blinker "canisters" go out (that's what they always looked like to me) can they go off randomly?

Disable the remote starter/alarm.
They often use a bunch of relays and that could be the sound you hear.
There should be a main power feed going to the POS post on the battery.
There might be a fuse on that line by the battery.

Sounds like it could be a broken or jammed blend door actuator from your climate control system. Mine is currently broken on my 99 Limited, stuck fully open to cold, when I turn the temperature up to about ambient outside temp I can hear a regular interval clicking coming from the dash near the passenger side as it tries to open up the hot side to blend the air. If the interior temp is set right in the middle, the clicking will become intermittent as the system tries to cycle on and off. See if it goes away when you turn your climate control off, if so I would say it's almost certainly this, if not then the best of luck.
