intermittent Starting Issues

Start the truck, sputters wants to die, revs fine, runs just fine after running a bit. Cold start or warm start no difference, its just the starting it likes to give me issues. It is intermittent. No CEL.

Plugs, coils, wires, fuel/air filter, all sub 10k ago and ran just fine for months after any routine maintenance. Doesnt burn a drop.

The only issue I know of is a bearing failing on the PS pump - it likes to sing sometimes. I doubt this is related.

I am thinking fuel: injectors maybe fuel pump.

Thoughts?

Something simple and cheap to do would be to clean out the throttle body. Over time you can get a little gunk build up that can cause poor idle issues. Likewise with the idle air controller. Give it a shot.

Try cleaning your MAF

Will clean the MAF again, but should be ok as I did it recently. I'd think a MAF would toss a code?

TB is cleaned but IAC is probably dirty. I'll try that.

leave the MAF alone, you don't want to damage by messing with it too much.

the issue you describe sounds a lot like the Idle-Air-Controller.

* it doesn't throw a code
* runs fine once warmed up
* give it a little gas when starting up

I replaced my entire throttle body with a low-mileage one from a scrap yard.
