Introduction & brake/turn signal question.

Hello, Scott here, from NW Wyoming. I've been lurking for a while and now I've got question.

I bought a 2000 4runner Limited about three months ago. 68,000 miles, I purchased it form the legal secretary, original owner.

It has had an intermittent ABS light lately. If I apply the brakes when the truck is in reverse, the ABS light comes on when I release the brake.

When I push the brake, the pass side rear turn signal flashes rapidly and I f I release the brake pedal while the turn signal is still on I get an ABS light.

When the light is on the ABS is disabled. Is it a short? Any thoughts about where?
R Rear ABS sensor?

I'm just trying to narrow it down before I take it to a mechanic.

Welcome, and cool pics! Those of us from the Midwest are always impressed by mountains in the background; we don't get those around here.

I'd agree it's a short, but no clue where. Elton's suggestion is a good one; the forums at yotatech are usually pretty deep in the nuts-and-bolts of the truck. Also know that the Tacoma and the 4Runner have some mechanical things in common, so a Tacoma solution from the same year might be helpful as well.

I found out this weekend that the PO had some minor body work done to the door jamb on the rear pass door from a parking lot ding.
I'm betting that in the process they nicked a wire. Next step is to crawl under and have a look. May have to wait a bit though- it's been -10 to -34 in the mornings for the past 2 weeks.
Anybody got a wiring/ABS schematic?
