for the T4R a deflector is a better investment IMHO since it does a better job of deflecting rocks and stones away fron the fragile windshield.

Actually I have it for almost 5 years on my M3, I think it worth every penny. It is not even noticeable and it will save paint from stone chips. I am not sure for 4runner, the hood is high enough to resist stone chips from lower cars and I think most vulnerable area is windshield not bumper.

I got it the week I got my 4runner.
Mine is 3M Clear bra, and I have it
Extended on the hood, so it lines up with the hood scoop T
The grill
Entire bumper
Rear view mirrors
Door handle inserts
Bottom of each door by the running door
came with 7 year warranty...Worth every penny. I plan on keeping the car for 10 years, and the bra was a great investment for protection along with my ceramic tints...
PS. Shop around if you are interested. Prices vary a lot....

I had something called Roadblock put on my truck at the dealer. Expensive as hell, (400) but its lifetime warranty, and they put it on the hood, front bumper, mirrors, and rear bumper. Black vehicle shows everything, usually park on the street, wanted the protection for the bumpers. The only area where its noticable is on the hood, you can see the line where it ends when there is dirt and salt on it, but when its clean, you can't tell unless you get close. Truck slid into another car recently...0 scratch or anything on the bumper. Nicks and dings from people who bump park drive me crazy...

of course it's worth it but if it's tough for you to swallow $700 then don't do it right?

I have a 2005 Salsa red Sport V8 that I ordered a kit that wrapped the whole front end, bumper, grill, A pillers and roof line. Worked great but eventually came off, not sure if it is the Mag Chloride or just my install. I will never do it by myself again. I will gladly pay someone else $700 to do it.

think bigger fellas.
the product itself is pretty cheap, but if you want the clear bra to clearly be invisible, then you need someone skilled to apply it.
else, you'll get lines and creases and the cheaper guys take short cuts with the material by shaping it to corners and curves via cuts to the material rather than "molding" it over.
if you have new 4r or freshly painted bumper, sure go for it. else, if you're ilke me and you bought it used or already have chips and scratches on it from regular use, then maybe you should hold off until you do get the bumper prettied up.
the ventureshield film is less orange peely than the 3m. i would always put the film on with my weekend fun cars like the m3 and 911 i had/have.
it also protects it from scuffs. think about that one. a minor brush can scratch paint but the film will minimize any damage to the paint and show less damage.

Oh it's definitely worth it! I had it on my '06 G35 (60,000 miles) and on the '08 4Runner (28,000 miles) and it does take a lot of the damage out compared to other cars without it. In addition, it really protects the lights too!
Is it really really hard to install??? I want to buy it off of ebay but fear it would be a pain in the butt to install. I am considering just doing without it. Cars are going to get wear and tear!

YES, it is that hard to install. Yes, it works well. Like I said above, most of my installation came off and I had a pro replace it. He commented on my work "Some of the pieces are really good, some are not. You do not have a consistent application." He did my Prius and only the mirrors have had to be redone, after 5 years. You will be money ahead to have a pro do it the first time, even if you only have the headlights and fog lights done. I highly recommend doing at least the lights. I would have had 2 broken headlights without the clear bra.
I have replaced the windshield in the Prius due to pitting, the hood with clear bra looks great.
