Invoice prices

I got pricing today from a dealership... saying the invoice price is $39,417 for a Limited w/ Nav, floor mats and roof cross bars... when I price the same info on Edmunds... the Invoice price comes in at about 38,500.00. (these numbers include the dest. charge.)

Am I missing something??? HELP?

Hopefully I can pull the trigger yet this week... still on the fence about leasing or purchasing.

I don't see where you can add crossbars, floormats, etc. Not on the SR5 page anyway. Floormats: $200, Crossbars: $200, TDA: $400. That gets you at ~$39,300.

Truecar.com puts the invoice at 39,093 without the cross bars. I just purchased a Trail Edition using American Express auto purchase program and the truecar invoice was only $2 different than what the actual dealer invoice was.

The invoice pricing on Edmunds doesn't include TDA and it doesn't include $400 worth of accessories you've added on. That brings the numbers within $100 of the dealer's invoice pricing.

I factored the accessories into the prices in my first post. What is the TDA? Advertising fee? Why can't this process be simple... I'm all about numbers, hate not having them all in front of me, before I go sign the paperwork.

I gotta get past this stage... and worry about important things like color and a decent set of tires. :hungry:

Yes, it is advertising. I'm a Toyota employee, and I paid TDA per our employee pricing program.

Ask for a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report for Your vehicle.

Holdback and financial reserve are built into the invoice, not TDA. TDA should range between $400 and $600, depending on the area.

Hey I recently (like last night) bought a car almost exaclty like the one you want minus cross bars..I paid $37,345 + TTL I saw the real invoice and it was $37,552. Hold back was $653. So they made a little bit of money which is fine (after all I work for a dealer too.) I bought it from a toyota dealer in houston, tx.. So what I'm saying is that sounds like some bs.

Lol turns out I'm no help at all..sorry mate..mine is 4x2..so I guess those figures won't help you that much..I do nothing but pound the pavement down here in Houston so no 4x4 needed..Champion Toyota is the dealer though..

Thanks... I was wondering about those numbers (I've got tunnel vision that's focused on a 4x4). Pulled the trigger today... apparently its @ the port in CA and will make its way to my driveway later this month. My deal is similar to yours... but a 4x4.

I sure took a beating on my SR5. MSRP was right around $37,100 and I gave $35,000. At least I can say the experience well got a little deeper. Next time I will be better prepared and seriously ready to walk away when the BS gets too deep. Lesson learned!

Yeah... its a hard lesson. And I'm glad I'm past it... because I have zero self-restraint when it comes to vehicles... especially when you know you really want it.

I know I have minimal self-restraint, because when I went for my first test drives... I sat w/ a Internet sales manager, as he looked at me seriously and tried to sell me a bunch of BS. He was kind enough to offer me $500 off the sticker... but thought he might be able to do a little better. Perhaps I just look really really stupid.

Doing the negotiating from your home or office... keeps your emotions in check. I've done my last five deals via the internet... relatively pain-free.

I think 2100 of sticker is a good deal. Don't feel bad.
