Did you miss the Toys4Tots event this weekend? I was out on the trails for the event.Anyone want to get a meet planned at all? Wheeling would be great, but not alot of options for that.![]()
I looked into miobi..don't know if my rig would do very well out there. Is it a lot of hard wheeling or some mellow trails?Did you miss the Toys4Tots event this weekend? I was out on the trails for the event.

So I've seen one modded blue 5th gen once in Des Moines since I've been here. It's been over 3 years. Where are you guys!?
Hey all, new to this board! From Louisiana, but now live in Des Moines in the Beaverdale area. Any recommendations on where to take my ole gal in to get serviced? I don't have a trusted mechanic in town yet.
Look forward to meeting some of you in the future!
Man I really need to subscribe to this thread as I don't get notifications on this thread.
And yeah if you saw the modded blue 4th gen with bumper and rack on bronze wheels it was defintiely me.
As for a trusted mechanic, I actually just referred another members daugther to my most honest one. Livingstons Automotive over on the southside. While it isn't fancy and shiny like the dealership they only replace whats needed and replace and quote with the parts they actually use. Dennis Livingston or Denny is the one who owns and runs it and also answers the phone. Great guy and have known him since before I could drive and my parents have been taking all of their vehicle to him for over 30 years now.
Thanks! Sounds great. Looks like we might have a small little group going here now
I'll give Livingstons a ring. Who should I tell him referred me?
I need advice on rust/corrosion prevention for underneath as well. Rust and salted streets are a whole new world for me. I'm avoiding driving it on salted roads and when I did drive it I washed it pretty much immediately after...but I want to do my best to stop what's currently there from getting any worse.
With a new kid nothing major. Probably just some day trips and such. After this winter in readt to get back outside. What about you?Anyone have any big trips planned this year??
Most likely blackhills in July to attend an offroad event and visit my brother. Probably take my 85' rock crawler. Possibly Moab and national parks trip in Utah in June. Want to get 4Runner regeared before that trip or either trip. Luke at Frontier told me a week ago he cant get me in till July. [emoji53] Going to talk with him again soon about that.Anyone have any big trips planned this year??
Went last year the course is pretty gnarly and definitely catered to their shorter wheelbase. Also lame you have to pay to spectateWe should get a group of Toyota's to go to the "iowa jeep fest" in September. I believe its right around the Ames area. Any interest? They allow all off road vehicles.

Looks like it's in a brand new area that has trails. Might be something to look into? I've never been so I don't know. When last year the course is pretty gnarly and definitely catered to their shorter wheelbase. Also lame you have to pay to spectate
