iPhone 4 case

So yesterday I got a white 8 GB AT&T iPhone 4 with a 2 year contract (added a new line, couldn't stand my HTC freezing, dropping calls and the laughable battery life, should have stayed with apple after my black 3GS) for free.

Well right now I have a Otter Box defender series case on it. I can't stand how big and bulky it makes my phone. It also picks up lint like a magnet.

So I'd like some suggestions for my fellow T4R members, 4 or 4S, what case do you have? I'd like to stay with otter box but I have a open mind.

Things a case must have:
1) dust covers. I love the dust covers for the 30 pin dock connector and head phone jack. Hate cleaning those and I've had them get clogged, it's no fun.

2)Good/ protective abilities for scratches (from dust or installing the case, when I had my 3GS I had a case and taking it off and putting it on would scratch the hell out of the back cover.) and drops. I'm not looking for a life proof case.

3) I'd like it to be clear, but that's not a must, but would be a plus.

4) I need something that doesn't attract lint and I can slide in and out of my pocket easily. I'm always checking my email and Facebook/ texts and calls, to this is a must.

So go ahead and hit me the your best shot!

From what I've seen, the ones with dust covers tend to be the more protective, bulky cases. I've tried all sorts of covers for our iphones over the years.

The best for looks and customization, by far, was grovemade.

The best protection, except some of the bullet proof monstrosities, is Otterbox.

The best slim design, non-dust attracting with many color choices is the Ringke Slim. I have this on my 5 now and am very happy with it.

For what you described, I'd look into the Ringke and get a separate dust cover plug. I got my wife the otterbox though because she's a total clutz with her phone.

I know you say you aren't interested in life proof but it's hands down the best iPhone case I have had. Only downside is the speaker sounds muffled when using speakerphone because there is no holes in the case.

If you already have an Otterbox defender I would think lifeproof would be right up your alley, it's half the size too.

I've got a Griffin Survivor. Yes, it's bulky, but I ran my phone over with a HMMWV and it is fine. Case is a little scratched, but the phone is perfect. My dad has one also, and ran his over with his Saturn Vue and had the same result.

They have a belt clip that is pretty decent as well.

Otterbox Commuter. It is protective. It comes with a nice clear dry screen protector (very easy to install!). It has plugs for openings.

BTW, you need to ALWAYS buy iPhone 4S cases, not iphone 4. The reason is that most 4S cases have a BIG camera opening. This is good for TWO reasons:

1. No flashback on pictures...basically, with a small opening, the flash can bounce back to the camera resulting in flash whiteout of picture.

2. Not sure about iPhone 4 camera, but the 8MP 4S camera needs lots of light because its sensor is bigger and needs lots of light to come in. This is what makes the 4S (and 5) camera superior.

So, whatever case you end up with, get the one with the bigger camera hole.

Hahaha. Taliban aren't around here. And if there are, they're too scared to come out. All the marines here would kill 'em.

We don't use HMMWVs in Afghanistan anymore. They don't take hits worth a sh!t. That's why they developed the MRAPs. Those things are good for running people over with.

See, it may be water proof but of you look up YouTube videos on the life proof it will eventually start leaking and once it does, it's all over. I'm not much of a clutz with my phone, but the occasional miss of the pocket or sliding off the lap just isn't the most comforting thing. It's my baby and I've only had it for 2 full days now, haven't even downloaded all of my apps from the App Store I had on my 3GS. Wow I'm really speaking my mind today.... LOL

Most cases would be fine with the camera if the cutout for the camera is like a matte black. This is the case I was thinking, otterbox reflix. It's be perfect if it had the dust covers, I had dust get into my 3GS and had to wait I charge it when I got to work, because the dust was so bad. Couldn't even blow it out with my mouth.

Plus the reflix has a clear option, but does have that sliding design I'm not fond of.

I would but I currently don't have a computer. Look up ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy. He Does reviews and drop tests. Look at the life proof then the Otter Box Reflix. Yes he dropped it high, but i thought t was supposed to be "lifeProof"?

They dropped a iPhone off a 13 story bridge with a Griffin Survivor.

Let it off the car at a bunch of different speeds.

Put it through the car wash.

Hit it with a cue ball.

Did a burn out on it. Cracked the phone screen on that one, but the phone still worked.

Do NOT buy Reflex case from otterbox because it will scratch the metal band!! In addition, it isn't compatible with most screen protectors. Stay away!
