There are also benefits to company's to have employees with smartphones. I don't have to be at home or at work to respond to emails, if I am at lunch or running errands I can still respond and they can still get a hold of me. We are also in the era where a lot less people are taking smoke breaks, so instead employees use their phones to check social media or communicate with friends. Your employees should have a healthy balance their work and social life. A lot of time the social life can help ease the stress of feeling trapped in a cage at work.

I do agree smartphones are a huge distraction while driving but so are the huge touch screens they put in these new cars. All those features they have, you have to try to figure out while driving and it can be dangerous. I know I am guilty of texting and driving and I live off my phone, in fact I am typing on it right now. I do know when to leave it in the car and a lot of times I bring it just to take pictures.

This being said I do fear for kids now a days growing up with all this technology. It does make them lazy and rely on their phones for everything.

In my opinion, and keep in mind i am an old poop. Technology can be a bit intimidating, but if you do not embrace it you will be left behind. Knowledge is power, and like i said i am an old guy that likes the old way. Times are changing and we can not stop it, so roll with it.

I blame smartphones and email for how business is conducted and the expectation of immediate responses. Want to balance work and personal life? Don't have a smartphone for work. Disconnect entirely. Lunch break isn't for work it's for lunch. Quitting time is just that, quitting time. I don't answer emails or phone calls after 7pm or on weekends unless I have a crew working. When I go on vacation I don't answer. When I take lunch I don't answer. It's amazing how work still goes on even when you aren't immediately available. Just my $.02.

I do runs for dog rescues on the week-ends. Dogs coming from Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan, into Canada every week-end. A smart phone is indispensable on the road for keeping track of the progress, updates, delays at the border etc, sending picture updates farther along the run.

Another rescue I help regularly pulls coonhounds out of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Given how poorly people in those three states treat coonhounds if they can't afford to feed and vet their coonhounds they definitely shouldn't be spending money on smart phones.

And yes I need mine for work as well.

Seems clear our lives are only going to get more connected, not less. I really dont think we've seen the full effects yet of how smartphones and the internet are going to revolutionize society. The impacts to not just how we work and communicate, but also how we socialize have been and will continue to be huge. Like most significant changes, society isn't going to wait for anyone. If you resist the way things are going you will probably find yourself being left behind sooner or later.

Thai, any reason you chose not to upgrade? I've been using a 5S since its launch but this seemed like a worthy upgrade.

The 6s is a very good update...but i am waiting for a HUGE jump in camera tech. I am waiting for a bigger sensor in an iPhone. B/w 5s and 6s, you're still using the same sensor size...just more advance tech. Apple is rumored to be working on tech that allows for bigger sensor capability (via second lens?)...so, the sensor may be small, but dual lens may equal big-sensor like capability.

In addition, i like the small size of 5s. The 5s is humming along thanks to its over engineered A7 chip (for its screen resolution)...just hope that it will keep humming for 2 more years...my goal is iPhone 7S. I think my biggest concern moving forward is my 5s battery...may need to get it replace.

Yes and no. Sony Z phones have 1/2.3" I think, which is sensor size of most P&S. Apple has been working on multiple patents recently regarding camera:

1. Here is one where Apple can get rid of OIS thus potentially saving space for bigger sensor: Apple invents 3-sensor iPhone camera with light splitting cube for accurate colors, low-light performance

2. Higher resolution without quality sacrifice: Apple camera patent would allow high-resolution photos without sacrificing image quality | 9to5Mac

3. Telephoto: Future iPhones may sport both telephoto and wide angle cameras, patent application suggests

In other words, future smartphone cameras will be quite good...it is just a matter of WHEN...and that is what I am holding out for.

Right now, I have Otterbox Preserver on iPhone 5s...works great, but I want true water resistance instead of relying on bulky cases. I love that I can take a shower with my Apple Watch...I want to watch my football game too in the shower!

But, I am really waiting for breakthrough in camera and sapphire. (And yes, I know about reflective issue with sapphire, but damn it, I do not want to use screen protector!)

Sapphire + Aluminum 7000 (on 6s) + camera = my wet dream!!

So, crossing my fingers for 7S to have these features! :hungry:

Just a quick update after having the 6s for a couple of days. It's faster than the 6, but not $750 faster. Overall operation is a little snappier, but it will take some time for the developers to use all of the new power in the chipset. My T-Mobile reception is also a little more reliable, which is the big win for me. The 6s feels like a phone I'll be able to keep for at least two years, maybe three.

i'm still rocking my 5S. hoping next year Apple finally rounds out the iPhone lineup with a new 4" model so there's a S - M - L choice in every one of their product categories (iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad Pro... MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro... etc., etc.,)

my wife sold her 6 and got the 6S on launch day and is over the moon about the camera. it really is impressive. personally, i just can't bear these oversized phones.

i have an iPad mini for couch-duty, so when i'm out and about i just want something that fits in my pocket, stays out of my way, and i can use with one free hand when i need it. every time i pick up the 6 i'm just "nope" on it. i bought one and returned it last year.

to be honest, i think the whole 6 lineup is really all about the Chinese market, from a strategic perspective. i'm hopeful they'll loop back and take care of their core market here in the States that still believes the original iPhone had it almost entirely right, design-wise.

I do not want to have to use a wheeled hand cart to lug around my bluddy phone! (The non-smart flip phone was much more ergonomic - why can't they make a smart phone with a sensible size and shape?)

These new iphones look intriguing but my current iphone 5 and the 5s before it are seem really buggy and flake out all the time. I'm kind of thinking of going with something different but none of them seem perfect to me. I actually like the size of the 5s with a case on it but it needs to be not only shock proof and water proof but also dust proof (fly ash proof actually).

My dad and my father-in-law are both in their 60's and always seem to have the latest and greatest phones. My dad likes Samsung phones and my FIL likes Apple stuff. My father-in-law also drives around in a ZL1 Camaro.
