ipod adapter for 3rd T4R??

wondering if anyone has added an ipod adapter on their 3rd gen T4R. if so, does anyone have a brief write up on it?

I have one connected to my alpine head unit. the ipod cable runs into the glove compartment. i just leave my old ipod in there and it charges it and i control the ipod from the head unit. heres a pic of the alpine stereo i have.

I am cheap and didn't want to buy a new head unit, so I just bought a cassette tape adapter with the the audio jack for $10. I just leave it in the tape deck all the time, and I ran the wire through the ashtray compartment, and brought it back under the center console, and out of the hole the parking brake handle comes out of. I just leave the iPod hooked up to it in the center console. Sound quality is fine, and it's cheap and easy.

Same here with the tape adapter, but I got mine for 2.85 from amazon. Just check there and it is the easiest way to listen to an ipod or your phone from the car.

Well, a low life dirtbag f'n THIEF broke into my car in October of last year :dammit: and ripped off my POS aftermarket Sony head unit, so I replaced it with a low-priced Kenwood unit that has both a USB and Aux input. It will control the wife's iPOD through the USB port, which is cool.

In the 4Runner i have a $125 Pioneer Headunit with the charging ipod cord that came with it.

In the Jetta i use the $2 cassette to ipod cord.

If you only have a CD player then, lol that sucks for you!

i too have some questions on this. I had a cable come with my head unit except now that apple changed the base on their newer iPod's, it wont charge my 3rd gen iPod touch. anybody know if there is a conversion connector for it?

and just so you know i'm not thread jacking here is my contribution. Some other options i know about for those who have limited options are the transmitters that work of your radio. i have one that works with the older ipods that i no longer need and it works pretty dang good.

If youre talking about the OE head unit

A ipod adpater will work as long as you have the 3 in 1 OE radio that has a cassette, CD and AM /FM and includes the optional CD changer. Your owners manual should tell you what radio you have. The radio model is printed on the front of the head unit res also alphanumerical model The adapter plugs into the CD changer plug in back. I bought my adapter from GROM electronics.

Many folks have bought Scion head units (cheap and plentiful) and installed them in 4Runners. Modifications to the dash opening are required, but you get a very functional unit that is not likely to be a target to thieves.
