iPod/Cassette/CD/Speakers question - new T4R owner

Hello! Just got a 97 Limited w/ 160k miles on it. I would like to get a better audio system for it, which will have a cassette deck, CD player, and a way to hook up an iPod (preferably with a digital signal). And I would like to replace all of the factory speakers.

I was just wondering which head unit with a cassette deck and a CD player was most conducive to hooking up an iPod too. And I was wondering which brand and model speakers would be a nice upgrade to the factory ones. All in all I'm looking for good quality components, but not to spend a huge amount of money on it. Dont need the absolute top-of-the-line.

I doubt you'll be able to find what you're looking for in an aftermarket HU (cassette and CD combo). You really only see those type of units coming from the factory.

You could try to find a cassette deck and add a CD changer, but you'd be limited with the iPod in that you'd probably have to run it through the radio with a modulator.

Or you could get a CD player that's iPod ready, either with an auxillary output or, in the case of Alpine, with an Ai-Net ready cable that controls the iPod from the Alpine head unit.

You can find cassette/cd combos... most companies make them they just don't really market them because their isn't a lot of people begging for them. I know pioneer makes one.. its like FH-P4200 or something like that... its ipod ready, sat radio ready, all that good stuff. It's double din, but basically any cd/cassette combo will be.

or he can go old school and get one of those tape that has the wire for the head phone jacks and plug ipod that way old skool style
