ipod connection for 2003 with JBL 6disk in-dash

Well, i was feeling a little left out so I finally got my ipod. I know there has been a ton of threads about this, but I was wondering what the guys that have the JBL 6 disk in-dash, 10 speaker system have done to connect the ipod. I really don't want to go the FM modulator route, but would rather have a jack to just plug in to. I would have kept up with all the discussions but didn't have an ipod at the time. Thanks in advance for any help.

Momo - I have the PIE unit and it works great if all you want to do is get an audio input for your IPOD. I have this in my truck. It allows you to use other items with a headphone jack for audio too. I use it for portable DVD players and my Nuvi 350.

The USA Spec allows you to have the IPOD connected for audio, charge your IPOD and control it using your steering wheel controls. It also allows you to have 6 playlists setup. You also have the option of losing a playlist and have a headphone jack as well as your IPOD connector (2 sources, 1 IPOD, 2 auxilliary jack)

Dension Ice Link - allows you to have the IPOD connected for audio, charge your IPOD and control it using your steering wheel controls as well as having the song text come up on your head unit. Playlists are available as well. Does NOT have a secondary aux port like the USA Spec. I was interested in this, but there are still some bugs to work out and I'm waiting before purchasing. Even though it is a little more expensive then the Dension unit (by $100) I would highly recommend the Vais Tech controller. I have it, and it works supremely well with my nav unit. It will not do just 6 playlists, but up to 99 which I think is what makes it superior to the ice link. This allows much more flexibility to your Ipod. Check it out at...

I agree with doctob and just went through the various threads at length. I've ordered the VAIS unit and will install next week. I'll post a review after install. But, the things that sold me were, steering wheel control of iPod, text display on HU (and this seems to be an issue with the Ice-Link -- bug in the software keeps artist name stuck), and 99 playlists which essentially will work as well as scrolling through the iPod for me. Also, I was able to get the group buy price which was only 20 more than the Ice-Link. You may want to email eugene at VAIS and let him know you are from tr4.org and are considering the Ice-Link vs. Vais -- I bet he'll give you the group buy price of $220.

Using the USA Spec, does the ipod screen show the song's name (information) while it is connected to radio? I know that it does not show any info on your car radio but..
