ipod connection in 2006 LTD?

I think you should have a line-in connector in your center console. Just get like a double-ended headphone cable and hook one end into the line-in, and hook the other into you headphone jack on the iPod. That won't charge your iPod when you play though but will give you great sound results.
The most convenient way of connecting the iPod to the JBL is the 3.5mm plug in your center console. It isn't the best sounding method, though. The best sounding is one of the iPod interface units. I used a Dice Electronics ipod interface in my 2006 limited then moved it over to my 2008 when I bought it a couple of months ago. It sounds great, but you have to pull the center console a part to connect it to the back of the JBL in the dash.
No it will not. I got a USA-SPEC PATOY-15 iPod adapter unit for mine. It didn't have the AUX in on the HU. This $160 box is a little pricey, but it is worth it. It also requires you to pull the HU out, which takes about 1.5 hours. It took that long for me at least. Anyways, this little box plugs into the 12pin input behind the factory HU. This is for external CD changers. The box has software which controls the HU/Ipod. It tricks the HU into thinking its an external cd changer. It has a doc connector interface, digital quality, charges the iPod, displays text, and shuts the ipod off when you park. It also has an AUX input which you can play anything that has an stereo out (another ipod or dvd player, etc.). You install it, hit disc twice, and you have full ipod controls, with steering wheel controls. You also can control play list selection from the HU by naming your playlist TOYOTA1, TOYOTA2, etc. I mounted mine in the glove box, and routed the wires to my center console. It is a nice setup and i think it's worth every penny spent. But if i were you I would just get the double sided stereo cord (walmart, target, best but) and enjoy my music that way.

Just go to an apple store, and buy one of these and plug it into the jack in your center consol, you don't need any of the other BS. The sound quality is perfect.

You just run the cable out of the center console and put the iPod outside the console. Just get a cable long enough.

The cable is over a foot long, you can easily put your ipod in the cup holder or buy a mount for it.

I got a Sirius radio for Christmas and wanted to get the best sound out of it I could, and possibly run an MP3 player as well. An FM Aux adapter works just OK, but for the best sound do the direct wired option from either USA Spec or Peripheral. I'm kind of OCD about this stuff so it took a few hours to install it with wire ties and some velcro to make sure nothing rattled and all looked like factory back in there. (yes, I probably need professional help, but it would bother me just knowing I did half the job)
I went to a high end audio installer and got the Peripheral for about $120, which he said has been more reliable for them than the USA Spec. However, I think the USA Spec has the Ipod controller if you want that. There are some differences in the sockets in the back of the radios around 2003-2005 model years, but the Peripheral comes with both types, and then gives you the option of using either a left/right RCA jack or 3.5mm plug.
I used a splitter and ran one side to the Aux out of my Sirius radio, and then ran an extension down the center tunnel into the glove box to connect any other input I would want in the future (currently my Blackberry with a 2Gig storage card to play music).

The sad story is: The AVN series from eclipse does have IPOD capability. Its the same as the factory NAV. So they could have added it to the Runner and the Sequoia with factory NAV for limited $$ They make a great vehicle, but are behind the time on the interior tech. The 1/8 jack is a POOR excuse IMO. Why cater to a customer who doesn't have an IPOD? Who drives $40K vehicle has MP3 and doesn't have an IPOD?
