ipod in glove box

I searched first, seriously. I have a usb connection in the glove box. It works very well with mu ipod. Does anyone actually leave their ipod in the glove box for an extended time? Hours, days? I am just thinking about hot summer days and if any damage will be done, thats all. Thanks in advance for your responses.

i dont know how your summers are, but i left mine in my runner one summer and it fried it. wont turn on or anything. i suggest not to, granted i do right now, cause its only getting up to the 85 90's but once it hits 95 and up i wont be.

I've left mine in there a few times. During the winter I've left in for a day maybe two max. During the summer I try to take it out everyday. I left it in overnight one time and the screen turned black for a few hours.

I leave my ipod in the compartment below the radio all the time. I never move it and it does fine. Granted it doesn't get really hot (high 80's) or cold (high 30's). It's an iTouch and it starts up every time.

That settles that then. No need to make a fancy holder in there if a dead ipod is the outcome! maybe a will fix the USB connection so it will be easier to plug in and out though. Thanks for the help!

I left an ipod nano in the glove compartment of 4runner for 2 years and the nano still works fine today.

We have broad temperature ranges, 0 degrees F or below in the winter 90 - 100 in the summer.

Mine was a iPod Touch if that makes any difference. I don't know if the touch screen is more sensitive.

Yeah i have the same weather conditions, and i leave my ipod in the glovebox yearround, still works.

I've left my 4 year old nano in there for a good two years. Still works perfectly. As far as theft, it's not worth much anymore so it wasn't worth taking in and out for me.

I picked up a refurb nano specifically so I could do that, got about a year out of it now stereo won't recognize it anymore.

Not sure if it's because it's a refurb or not.

My friend leaves his old iPod touch plugged in the glove box for months at a time. Won't hold a charge anymore, but it runs and plays fine if its plugged in. I personally just filled up a USB thumb drive and leave it plugged in.

My ipod touch serves me only 2 purposes in life... And that is to stay plugged in my glovebox, or used when I'm at the gym. But right after the gym, as soon as I get in the car, goes back in the glovebox. 3 years strong

I've left my 4th Gen iPod in the glove box of my 4th Gen 4Runner for the last year or so and haven't had any issues - over 100F during the summer, and below 0F at times this winter.

I guess I should mention mine's run from -40c (-40F) to 35c (93F). Actually when it quit it was around the time of one of our cold spells recently (-30ish). Maybe doesn't like the real cold.

Mine sits in the console all the time w/o issue. On real cold days it takes a little bit before it responds.

mine went from high heat, so i put it in bubble wrap, & has been fine since.

Used to leave my third gen in the car 24x7x365. No problems, other than the battery being shot from not cycling it. The display was slow when cold, but not busted.
