IPOD w/ 2003 SE w/ JBL....Can I?

Well...a long trip is planned and my wife would like to use her IPOD in our 2003 SE with the JBL set-up. I am not very familiar, but speculate there isn't a direct plug-in in the back of the headunit.

What do I need to use the IPOD? Is there FM modulation available?

from Crutchfield seems like it would work. You might want to look on their site for other options too. You might also want to shop around once you decide on one.

Another option might be the unit from Dice Electronics. According to their website it is compatible with your 2003 4runner. I have one of these units in my 4Runner. The dice unit plugs in the back of the head unit then connects directly to the iPod. Very convenient to use and sounds great.

I'm sure other folks will chime in with their recommendations.

Even the $5 cassette input devices are more reliable (frequency drift-wise) than the FM modulators. If you only use once and awhile - its cheap and quick. Just have unsightly cable hanging out of tape drive.

Wolfgang's recommendation is a heck of a lot easier than pulling the center console and removing the head unit to put in one of the ipod interface modules like the one I have in my truck.

Thanks for the replies....very helpful.

Since I won't be using an IPOD in the Runner very often, I did opt for the cassette adaptor. From my reading the sound quality is better than the FM Modulation, although not as good as the DICE or similar....but a lot less expensive and no pulling apart the dash!

The IPOD is my wifes' and it's only on long trips that we really want the capability.

I'll tell you how it sounds once the adaptor gets here and I try it out.
