Irritated with Toyota

Just read on flipboard the Toyota has launched a limited service campaign for 2005-2008 Tacomas for rusted frames. What about our 4Runners. I dont care where my frame was made....its a rusted POS.

I don't think they do to be honest. 3rd gens, yes. But I haven't seen any rotted 4th gens yet. I'm not saying they aren't out there, but they aren't common enough to pop up on here that often.

As far as surface rust goes...who cares? It's cosmetic. Just wire brush it and paint. I did this a year ago and my frame still looks great.

I was under my wife's '03 today with a friend looking over things. He ripped one of the "tow hooks" off with his hand. He is not a large man.

4th Gens do have the same rust issue. I posted a thread a while back about a 4runner I was looking to purchase from a dealer here in Houston. The frame was pretty bad....salesman said it was just surface rust....Ill find the thread and post the link.

I thought the 4runner was the same frame as the taco and the highlander was on a non truck frame

I'm the original owner of my '05, down here on the Texas Gulf Coast... and no frame rust whatsoever.

There's a guy in my local club who says his dealership (he's a tech) has already replaced a few 4runner frames (he estimated it as 10 total).

Mine is typical New England-ugly but seems totally solid still.

I posted pictures of mine a few months ago. Its pretty bad. Im pretty sure I could rip the cross member under the radiator off with my hands. I brought it to the local dealer and he was pretty surprised at the shape it was in. My runner is from NE, only been in Florida for about a year.
