Is $29754 a good deal for 2k4 4Runner 4x4 v6 Sport Ed.?

Greetings:

I am wondering if $29754 is a good deal, in NJ, for a 2004 4Runner 4x4 V6 Sport Edition with the following options:

1. Double decker cargo system
2. Power tilt & slide sunroof
3. Rear spoiler w/ Center high mounted stop light
4. 5 Pieces Carpet / Cargo mat set
5. Daytime running lights

I did configure at Edmund and Carsdirect.com.
There is a difference of couple hundred $. So I don't know who has the most accurate price.

That's odd, although I've never used carsdirect.com. How did the dealer cost compare to the price you were offered.

Basically, you want to base your negotiations from the dealer cost, not from list price.

I agree with jharris2, don't base you evaluation of your deal on how much discount you got off MSRP, base it on how much you paid over dealer invoice.

Invoice prices on CarsDirect.com are good and can be used for your evaluation.

Right now, based on my informal observations, 4Runners are going for anywhere from slightly under invoice price to about $750 over invoice.

I just bought a 2004 Limited for $550 over invoice, but probably could have done better if I had tried harder. The CarsDirect price was $700 over invoice -- which is a good fair deal, although you can do better if you are willing to negotiate.

I think I am ready for bargaining at the carsdirect dealeship today. If I can't get a good deal, I will make my purchase toward the end of december, in hoping that the deal will be better then.

FYI, I finally got mine w/ $400 over invoice. I think this is a very good deal though.

So far, pretty happy with the SUV. Many details and designs are well thought such as the hood covering the ventilation area thus preventing leaves and other debris to fall inside, many storage compartment, tire pressure monitoring device etc. Pretty quiet in normal driving: however, the engine is a bit noisy (roaring) when accelerated in comparison with my Camry.

I guess it depends on circumstances - geographic location, dealer, end-of-year, inventory, demand (by trim, features, etc.).
I was able to get my 2003 V8 Sport well under invoice, and he was offering 2004's under invoice too, so it is possible.

FirstToyz: As I mention earlier, the SUV is a bit noisier (in acceleration) than the Sedan but bearable and I do appreciate many fine design and attention to detail so far. I am just wondeirng if it will be quieter with a v8 engine. I hope that in the long run, it doesn't get any noisier.
