Is $300 over invoice a good deal?

I'm looking to buy a new 4Runner and the company I work for offers us Toyota's H-Pricing Plan. The deal is $300 over invoice for any 4Runner. Is this a good deal? I've heard stories of folks getting their trucks for less than the invoice price.

All advice is greatly appreciated!

No.

Deals change as Toyota adds and removes incentives. According to CarsDirect.com, Toyota is offering a $1,000 incentive until 05/02. All 4Runners on CarsDirect.com right now appear to be $1,000 under invoice. You really shouldn't pay more than that. And even without the incentive, the price you were quoted is still too high.

just curious, how much the plan your company offers for a toyota sienna? my elder brother is looking for one. it would be a great deal for a sienna given the price is invoice + $300.

MustangSally, that rebate of $1,000 I believe is only for the V8 Models.

Directly from the Toyota Website:

New 2005 4Runner (V8 Models Only) Customer Choice

1.9% APR for 36 months
2.9% APR for 48 months
3.9% APR for 60 months
OR $1,000 Customer Cash

And to add to silver4x419, it depends on region. In the Southeast currently, there is a $1000 OR 0% financing on the V8s. Dealerships around here won't give you both.

No dealer will give both. The thing to be carefull about is; make sure the final price doesn't include the rebate. If it is included you should be paying hundreds below invoice. Some stealers try to pull a fast one at signing. NOT!

Prices for the low-end model Sienna are currently $300 over invoice at CarsDirect.com.
it didn't work for me in my area.
I entered my zip code, 20854, it returned with target price less than $300 below MSRP. It may work somewhere else though.

Thank you anyway.

i found it hard to arrive at just what was invoice as option packages, availability and other possibilities seemed to change from www to www in this internet car at invoice game. I have a cousin who is a research chemist at consumers reports and very car wise and he had trouble wading thru all the variables. For example some sites didn't list the extra airbag package as an option, others did but doidn't have some other package. Also, what was available gave you some truck with things you might not want that you just had to negotiate away. Also a models like the sport in a particular color or with specific's seemed tough to get easily for a dealer to be motivated to get it for u and bargain on it.
I ended up spending 31k period in central cali for a sport v8 4x4 with moon roof, extra air bags, spoiler, carpet mat option package and conveinience package (exhaust tip, deflector, race pedals).
MSRP was approx 35,680. So I felt and still feel pretty good about my new Toys price. maybe i could do better, i could also still be shoppin instead of driving it for 3 weeks now!!

I use percentage for calculation.
given MSRP is $30k for a jap brand vehicle with very few options, if the price is $25k. the discount ratio is 1/6.
compared with another vehicle full loaded, say $36k, the price must be $29k to have the same discount, that is 1/6.

for domestic vehicles, such as GC, you might expect more discounts, but i know nothing about it.

The problem I'm having is not knowing what the invoice price is. Carsdirect.com gives me an "n/a" message for the invoice price. Is the target price suggested a starting point...or is that the best price I can expect?

Abin - I don't know what the deal is for the Sienna...

Again, thanks for the help.

The only invoice you need to be concerned with is the stealer's invoice. Only negotiate off that. You can work with a percentage or a dollar amount. When it comes to signing, the dealer needs to SHOW the invoice before you sign. Simple!

try www.kbb.com or www.edmonds.com to get invoice pricing. if u are a costco member go to their www and select services auto buying to get their invoice site.

What you say is important but its equally important to research invoice pricing on all possible options b4 entering the salesmans domain where pressure , emotion and looking at docs for the 1st time all conspire against the buyer. Maybe there are a few lucky people who can block all of that out but I'm not one of them and this guy might have that problem too. The internet invoice pricing game is one of the big improvements for the modern buyer. I remember when the average joe had to buy that info from consumers reports.
