Is any one else using Pennzoil Ultra?

Well after being a 3rd generation M1 user i have decided to give Pennzoil a try. After hearing all the information and looking at the spec sheets i felt there was no choice but to give it a try. So 6 quarts and a Napa filter later i am an offical pennzoil user..or at least my wife is

I put it her Denali 6.2L which has around 30,000 miles. So far after about 2months of use it is still yellowish clear on the stick and has quieted down the monstorus GM valve train system.

What i did notice about it compared to M1 is that it is way clearer in color and something else i seen that was strange it seemed to bead up in little tiny rain drop sized balls as the last few dripps fell from the bottle and hit the funnel. the beads of oill bounced down the funnel like little BBs. I can say I have never seen oil do that before.

well I have 10 more months to go before oil change again and i will keep a sample to compare to the M1 that was drained after its 1 year cycle in the motor.

I use Pennzoil platinum full synthetic. I use a K&N filter and change the oil every 5 to 7K miles. I don't buy into run synthetic for 10,20 or 30K miles. It's easy to change the oil and fairly inexpensive anyway.

yeah there is nothing wrong with changing synthetic oil that soon but you could go longer between oil changes if you wanted. It saves me between 80 and 90 dollars a year by changing it every 15k or 12 months. over the life of the car I have own now it has saved me about 900.00. To me that is enough money to get a good set of binoculars or a new rifle with scope.

I guess I'm the only one brave(or dumb) enough to try the Ultra this early in the game. I havent found many reviews on it since its so new but from the emails i have sent to pennzoil they are saying its a step up from the penz platinum.

I compared the price of the Ultra to the Platinum the other day at my local Wal-Mart. A 5 quart jug of the Platinum was only about 50 cents more than the Ultra, if I recall.

I had used M1 oil & filter in my 3rd gen (tow vehicle and DD; sold at 152,000 miles in tip-top shape; did oil changes at 8-10k miles). I've been using M1 in my 4th gen and Amsoil in my Stang but have seriously considered switching both to either Ultra or Platinum. I like what I've read on bobtheoilguy's website.

That's not that good for a synthetic. Amsoil is less than 6% I believe. Mobil1 is like 9. I think some dinos get below 11.

yes there are lower noack values but what car cycles oil at that temp any way? I dont feel that it is an indication of how an oil performs in real world conditions. but everyone knows that anyway.

From what I've read on BITOG forum, Penzoil as well as other oils just start to do their cleaning of the valves and lifters at 4K miles. So the longer you run the oil to 7.5K to 10K the better for the cleaning action.

I've also read about the cleaning action of Penzoil Yellow bottle conventional oil on the forum. The UOA's come back with stellar results when used for 7.5K oil change intervals also. Seems that the conventional oils of today, Penzoil, Chevron, Formula Shell and Havoline are all exceptional oils with their add packs. I just changed my oil from Valvoline Synpower 5w-30 at 7600 miles to Pennzoil Yellow bottle 05W-30 with a much larger oversized K&N oil filter. I plan on running the oil for 7.5K and changing the filter once at the 4K mile mark and adding more PYB 05W-30 as make up oil.
