I have an '87. It's running great but it's running cool, luke warm really. The temperature gauge only moves a bit even after long driving and the heater/defogger blowa only warm air. Is my thermostat stuck open?

I usually replace a thermostat every couple of years when I change the antifreeze. Not that it needs it that often, but just to be sure -- it cost a few bucks and prevents trouble.
And guess what? There was a pice of metal from the repower job lodged in it. The poor thing couldn't close.
I'm going to ask my mechanic to give me a shop credit for the cost of a thermostat replacement job.
