driving home from work today, i noticed my 4runner got pushed around quite a bit due to some strong wind gusts. i was on the highway doing around 60-65 and i found myself correcting the steering wheel quite a bit. nothing major but enough to make you use to hands to drive. is it just me or is there something wrong with my 4runner? do any of you experience this on a windy day?

Pretty much normal and with anything that even slightly resembles a brick.

lmoa, thanks guys. thought something was screwy with my 4runner. kinda sucks when you gotta keep up with traffic and keep your 4runner stable at the same time.

Yep, nothing out of the ordinary. I've been pretty scared going over a few bridges in really gusty winds. Feels like you're almost gonna get flipped.

i had a time in Cali with mine when all the locals said be careful on the coastal hwy, the Santa Anna winds are coming in tomorrow.

didn't think much about when i left. Did most of my thinking about it when i was pulled over on the side of the road stopped waiting for it to die down. It was ridiculous, definitely nothing that bad here in NC

Our 4Runners are just not great on real windy days on the open highway. Your problem is not unique this happens to me all the time. The stock 4X4 is 11.4 inches off the ground and with a narrow and tall body it takes a good effort to keep her straight on a windy day.

yeah

i was driving down Rte. 2 yesterday and the wind kept pushing my 4runner around. i think its probably a bit worse in mine since i have no front sway bar

i'm just thank full in these situations that my car isn't getting beat up by the debris blowing around out here.

I will say that my truck handles MUCH better in the wind w/ the new steering rack bushings in it. Before that it was all over the place.

I have noticed that too today.

It freaks me out driving next to trucks on days like this...

1 - wind is pushing them around too

2 - they sometimes all of a sudden block wind and suck you in

I'm driving down the freeway in a straight line with my steering wheel turned to the left...

Reminded me of my old 87 Mercedes, alignment was jacked so I always had to turn the wheel to go straight...
