Or do the A/C systems on the '05 royally suck??? It seems to blow good, but the air just doesn't get that cold........

With that said, let the jokes begin.....:D

If you are using the auto setting, you need to turn the temp setting down until it is comfortable. Setting it at say 70, the system will start to cut off the cold air (maybe not the fan speed) when it starts to reach the setting. You may need the system to be set at 68 to reach your comfortable level. Once you no what setting is best for you should be able to set it and not have to keep adjusting it. The temp setting can be set as low as 65 then you will see low displayed. This is like setting the system at max temp/fan speed and the system will stay that way until you raise the temp setting. If you have it set on low and you still can't get a comfortable temp, something is wrong.

The only thing that bothers me is when I am sitting still, and the a/c will kick in and cause my 4Runner to lurch forward and then I'll have to push on the brakes to keep from hitting anybody in front of me.
 
Nahh, I don't use the auto setting.....

I use the manual settings and keep the temp set to LO, it just takes FOREVER to cool down, the back seats take double time to do so, way longer than my 2000 Runner did.........

I don't know, maybe it's just me.......

I"m also in East Tennesse, and it's 91 degrees right now
 
Cold in here.

Use the LO setting and push either 2nd or third fan speed up.....bbbrrrr in a minute or two. Nipples get hard in a a few more minutes and have to turn the temp setting up to about 68-69 and go to bi-level.....

get it checked at the dealer.
 
I find the air conditioning in both 2005 Limited's to be amazing! The air conditioning in my 2003 Sport was not that great. I used to have to leave the fan speed on next to high and the temp on LO the whole time. On my 2005, I just leave the temperature on 70 and I am freezing in minutes. I had the temp as high as 75 it was so cold. I don't know if maybe the dual zone climate control has some sort of effect on the system but I am not the only one to notice this.

Mine did that yesterday and I didn't know what the heck it was. I had my foot on the brake and when I hit the A/C button, it just jumped forward and I got scared. My 2003 never did that so maybe that is something "new" on the 2005.

My guess is that is has something to do with our more powerful V8. The extra HP and torque probably overpower the brakes when the a/c is turned on. I just have to learn to keep my foot firmly planted on that brake pedal when I'm stopped. :o

My 04 does that too. It is extremely annoying. But other then that my ac kicks ass, it gets cold really quickly. Even when it is pushing 100 outside it cools fast, to where i get cold.
 
Make sure you are not pulling in outside air. You will cool down inside air twice as fast.

Remember, too, that if it's been sitting in the sun, it takes even longer to feel cold air coming out of the vents.
 
Another good thing to do when it is extremely hot out is to leave the sunroof tilted. The truck will not heat up as much and it will cool down a lot quicker.
 
Must be you.....

I have 05 LTD and the A/C works great. It's been over 90 degs and you could wear jacket when it's on full. As a matter of fact I haul around 2 big dogs and they are all the way in the rear with a pet barrier! They are fine back there and one of them is very sensitive to hot weather... So you might want to talk with your dealer cause my A/C works great... in fact better than the 99 4Runner I got rid of.... Good luck..
 
I just purchased a 2005 SR5 here in Dallas. It's been near 100 degrees for weeks, and the AC blows colder than any vehicle I've previously owned. I set it on auto and put the temp at 72 and have ice cold air in a minute. So either I lucked out, or your system needs to be checked.
 
I find that mine gets too cold, I usually have to set it to 24.5C(76F) to feel comfortable, and it is currently about 38C (100F) with the humidity here in the Toronto area.

I would get it checked by your dealer.
