Is my coolant leaking?

I opened up my hood today and upon closing it, noticed the dried pink fluid around the coolant area.

It is 2020 with ~11,500km on it. I know nothing about this stuff, but surely didn't expect to see it there!

Pretty common, had the same happen on my 2014. If the reservoir is within margin and cap is tight I wouldn't worry about it.

Dealer probably overfilled it. My res used to burp fluid if I filled to the “F” line then would settle about midway between the marks. I no longer add fluid and it’s never gone lower than the “L” when at room temp.

Yep. If the cold level is at the FULL mark you may see it expand some out the top. I set mine so that it's at the FULL mark when fully warmed up.

No worries, mine does this and doesn't lose coolant. I believe its just evaporation around the cap. Hose it off and make sure the reservoir is at correct level when you check the oil, etc.

Had my 11 FJC burp a bunch of coolant when in the middle of nowhere Canyon of the Ancients. Greatly concerned me at the time considering the location. I'm assuming the reservoir was a little too full and the coolant got a little hot crawling in 4low. Same drivetrain as the 4R.
Only time it ever happened in 100,000+ miles.
As others said check the coolant level, clean it off and see if it comes back.

I bet that did get your attention out there though!

Same thing with my 2023, it´s overfilled. When truck is cold the level is a little over the full mark. I´m going to take some out and leave about 2 fingers from the full line and check if that does the trick.

Common issue with the gasket on the overflow cap. It dries out and stops making a good seal. You can flip it over and try that or buy a new cap. Also can make a gasket out of a piece of rubber innertube from a bike.
