Is Perkins Performance still around?

I really want one of those roof racks but the website seems to be down. Does this guy not make roof racks anymore?

I called and spoke with them early last year before purchasing the Whitson roof rack. I'd highly recommend going through WMW as they're quite similar in design and the WMW quality is outstanding.

That's an option just not thrilled about the 6 week lead time, might just end up going with a gobi stealth.

so what do you plan to use the roof rack for? just curious as I see a lot of people on here spend big bucks on them and I hardly ever see them in use in their posted pictures... seems like a really expensive cosmetic mod if not used.

Ocmedic is right, don't forget about coating one of mine, though there's always several DIY options. And, lead times suck, I hate them. I wish I could ship one of these within days of ordering but I am literally a one-man show and still floored and super appreciative of how well received the racks are.

Well I currently have a baja rack which is a really durable rack which is best for carrying a full size spare on top and it comes with additional mounts for all types of things, but now that I have a CBI rear bumper on the way I don't have as much need for such a burly roof rack that creates as much wind noise and wind drag so I am looking for something low profile that I can still mount lights on and carry some things. I understand what you mean by they are usually empty I guess it just depends on how often people go on wheeling trips that they actually need to store stuff up there, but it's certainly a nice thing to have just in case.

FYI I've had my Gobi for almost 3 years and their powder coat isn't worth $500. It has chipped in a few places, I don't believe it's holding up any better than a good rattle job.

I take it your racks don't come coated?

Do you offer it Powder coated and if so whats the additional charge?

The only coating option I have in my area is Line-x which runs about 250 per rack. Otherwise, everything is bare steel. There are plenty of diy options out there, prep is the key to any of them.
