Is the 2011 Tacoma 1GRFE the same motor?

Looking for a donor motor that will drop into my 05 4Runner. I dont want it to require any modifications to get it to work. When looking at the HP numbers for both engines, the tacoma has a lot less. Is it because my 05 4runner is dual VVT-i and the 2011 tacoma is not? Should I instead look for a FJ cruiser or 4Runner engine?

I ask because I found a good deal on a low milage tacoma motor and I dont want the shop installing it to have any issues, since Im supplying it.

Any help would be appreciated.

It should be the same. Dual VVTI didnt come out until 09 for the 5th gens iirc

I'm thinking your '05 will have different cam position sensors & reluctors than the newer engine. Check into it before you take the plunge.
