I've wrapped a couple cars. It isn't something that I enjoy doing as a "fun" project.

This, but can we really blame them though? Non-enthusiasts need something to drive as well. Does it matter if they have a passion for the vehicle or not? I don't think so.
If literally every single car on the road was a lifted and modded TRDP 4R, then we'd have a problem. Until then its just really bougie folks throwing money away at the dealership things they'll never use. That's on them IMO and it doesn't bother me one bit.

It was a matter of ME wanting a 4R so badly...
that when I finally got mine...
I was disappointed that other owners weren't as delighted as I was.
To them.....it was just "their car".

You found a new 4R with dealer installed sliders? I’m calling BS...what company offers sliders to Toyota dealers direct and under warranty?
My friend bought a new sr5 last year with a few local dealership add ons. Mainly the rims and big tires. They paid dearly for it but it looks cool

Besides the expected durability and long term ownership possibilities of the T4R, I’ve really liked the looks of the gen 5’s since they were released. That said, the only reason I have my SR5 now is because the engine in my WRX started developing an increasing oil consumption issue that made more sense to part ways with the car. I drove the WRX for nearly 7 years and dearly loved driving it. Timing and price was right on the SR5 and now I’m probably driving what will become my 5 y/o daughters first vehicle.
It’s cool to see all the mods, but short of me getting into rock crawling at Windrock or in Tellico, I don’t need any of them. Daily driver with weekend excursions into old forest service fire roads doesn’t demand much in the way of mods more than maybe some sliders.

Here in Colorado Springs they will install a Toytec 3" lift, tires, spacers, and rock sliders and warranty the entire thing.
Check out Liberty Toyota.
They also reupholster the interior, tint everything, black out the lights, and install a TRD Pro grille.

They used to put Hefty with the steps on them, they also put the predator step bar atrocities on them.
You caught me! I believe you are correct that the truck I was referencing did not actually have sliders. I will endeavor to be more factually correct even though that particular slip didn't actually change my point one iota...thanks for being so quick to point out my mistake!

I've always owned American made (2 Wranglers, F150 and 2 grand cherokee) but after working for a Japanese company the last few years I decided to try something different. Several of my coworkers talk about how great Lexus is but that's just not me (aka I'm too cheap lol) so I landed on the 4R because I like the look and love the way it drives more like a truck compared to the Grand Cherokee. I never noticed that many 4R's on the road here in Chicago and had no idea there were so many mods available.
I'd been happily driving mine stock the last year but after spending 10 days in northern AZ and southern UT in October, I knew my the basic SR5 wasn't going to cut it so I installed new running boards and now waiting on my new wheels and suspension kit to be delivered.
I guess for me it was kind of blind luck to have found the 4R but 25k miles later, I still love driving it as much as day 1 and looking forward to the new wheels/suspension, even if that makes me a fanboy :biggrin2:

Funny to see this thread, I was just thinking today how everyone and their mom seems to have a modded 4Runner here in Vegas. I seriously can't leave the house without seeing one. Sometimes 2-4 in one trip. It's crazy.
Thought mine was modded up pretty good, but seen a few that put me to shame. Time for more mods!!! :rofl:
