Is the dealer an idiot?

I have an 05 with almost 32k on it and the park light next to the foglight has condensation in it. I was told by the dealer today that it is not covered by Toyota. Has anyone had this problem and had it replaced under warranty? I looked in the extended platinum warranty book and it does not say that the assembly would not be covered.

I've read a lot of posts about headlights being replaced under warranty for this problem, but nothing either way about the side marker lights.

Do a search because IIRC someone posted here in the last few months that the dealer did a warranty replacement for him. I posted about replacing mine but I was out of warranty.

If your truck is still under warranty then it's covered. Everything except brakes and tires are covered under warranty.

I have to agree, wverything under 36,000 should be covered. If they try to bend you over the barrel, then go to another dealer and let the regional manager know about it.

it would be covered if it was a failed gasket.. not covered if it is cracked.. also it will NOT be covered because it has been 3 YEARS or 36,000 miles.

depending when in 05 you got it of course ..unless you got it in 04 as an 05 model

Platinum Warranty: just call the 800 number in your warranty and see what they have to say.

Just incase... I did the rear bumper light mod, and I got condensation in both. I retook them out, did better job sealing it with the electrical tape. I also sprayed liquid wrench, on one of the lights, because on the can it says, 'rustproofing' and 'waterproofing'.

I think warranties won't cover things that could be damaged by normal driving and it my include corner lights since a rock could have struck it causing it to break a seal and get fogged up even if you can't see any visible damage and this is what they may say.

A warranty won't cover a headlamp if it's damaged by road debris and the corners may fall under the same ruling.

i spoke with one of the service writers at work and they said it will not be covered if caused by a rock or an accident. also will not be overed if the light or lens has been changed or altered... it could be a gasket or a screw loose and that would be covered.

Not for the price they want. I found some on ebay for 22.80 I will go that route just not right now.

That's too steep. Are you sure you have the right part? As I said, I replaced mine not too long ago and it was around 50 or 60 (I don't have my receipt handy.) I think they quoted you the fog light portion or the entire combined set.

must be for the whole assembly. I am not to happy with the local dealer. This was my first visit and nothing was really done.
I will call and check it out.

Found my receipt. Part # 81511-35401 (LENS,LAMP) is for the passenger side. C$61.10 + tax.
Going the Ebay route saves but make sure it is a genuine Toy part. Try some on-line dealers.
