is the rear wiper supposed to do this? help?

Everytime I start my truck (2006 v6 limited 4wd) the rear wiper turns on and wipes once. I don't remember it or my previous 2003 4runner doing this before. Does anyone else's do this? I don't wanna take a trip to the stealership for something that seems minor but annoying. Any ideas??

Btw, the rear wiper stalk control is in the off position...

Nope, not supposed to do that. Are you sure it's off? The controls can be tricky because there's so much on the stalk.

If it is off, then you probably need a new switch.

It should NOT do this. Sounds like the switch is confused. Cycle the switch a few DOZEN times and see if it gets any better.

it wipes once and then not again? unless you turn the collar switch?

I'd check the relay first.

Thanks for the suggestions. Stupid question, but does anyone know where the relay for the rear wiper is? what about the fuse that controls it? I checked the manual out and pulled several different ones but couldn't find the right one. :shrug:

Unfortunately there is no fuse specifically for the rear wiper because it is driven by the body ECU. The problem you are experiencing is most likely on the wiper electronics board which is part of the wiper switch assembly. Unless you are good at troubleshooting your best bet is to buy a new wiper switch assembly.

update

here's an update...I disconnected my battery and reinitialized the windows. My rear window wiper is no longer turning on when I start my truck. I'm hoping this fixed it!
