Is there a brake problem?

I've had my 04 for about a month and started to notice this brake issue the last 2 weeks (maybe it was there before and I didn't pay attention to it).

Here's the scenario - In a normal car, when you step on the brake the car would slow and then settle down to a dead stop. However, when I step on the brakes on the 4R, it slows and then feels like settles twice to a dead stop. I'm not sure I'm describing it right, but the last second before coming to a complete stop, it starts to settle down but then it feels like some is either engaging or disengaging and then settle down completely. At first I thought it was the anti-lock brakes engaging but the noise is a bit different. And it occurs quite frequently (95% of time) either in 2wd or 4wd.

Since the car is still under the 3000 mile used car warranty, I would normally bring it back to the dealer and have them check it. However, the dealer is 70 miles away (and I was told I have to bring it to them for the initial warranty, afterwards I can bring anywhere under the certified program) I don't want to make a long trip (waste a day) to have them tell me it's normal. So I want to get your expert advice first.

thanks much.
