Is there a secret for dog hair removal?

Sticky Lint Rollers and Vacuum. Best advice is to do it early and often to keep it from getting really embedded into the carpet. It's time consuming but has become part of my routine anytime my dogs go with me on a trip. Also, WeatherTech mats help up front. I haven't decided on a solution for the cargo area as I'm planning to build storage back there.

Or you could do like we did in our house and just buy carpeting that matches your dog. (True story, lol.)

We have 2 older comforters that lay down. You could also have them use the hooks or something if your think they wont stay flat. Then toss them into the washing machine later on.

Our animal Dyson has a an attachment that does a decent job but I'm buying a Canvasback soon.

Recently bought a canvasback liner for my '17. Unfortunately hit the 3rd row option during checkout, which I don't have :ybrick: Needless to say it's now for sale, brand new minus me pulling it out of the packaging and discovering the mistake during install.

I have been putting the seats down and setting the big Dyson home vacuum in and running it back and forth...then use lint roller for the 5% left in the carpet.

My issue is I have the sliding tray in the back and getting under / around that thing is a PITA.

It seems like my dog's hair weaves itself into the carpet in the cargo area. I'm trading in my '14 this fall. I want to do a better job keeping the dog hair managed. I thought about vacuuming it out weekly.

Is there a cover for the cargo area that you guys recommend?

My solution was a company called Katzkin.

For the rear, I just use a charcoal gray bath towel with grommets in it to attach under the rear seat headrests and drape over the back. For the floor I went to Lowe's and picked up a cloth painter's drop cloth. Fold it to fit and when it gets dirty just throw it in the washer. I have a Weimaraner and a Golden Retriever... so I still end up vacuuming more than I'd like to. I swear a Golden Retriever sheds 100% of it's fur on a daily basis.

OP - I'd buy this. Between this, and a cargo liner, dog hair will be greatly reduced. I had the same 'issue' prior to my CB. my dog's hair is really stiff and wiry. once it got into the carpet, it was damn hard to get it out. i already had a cargo liner, but wanted something for the back of the seats. got a CB setup from someone here and haven't had to mess with dog hair nearly as much. much easier to vacuum up, or simply brush out.

I don't have a third row either but I'll look into canvas back. I think I'd rather have one that is one big piece. I don't like the idea of a bunch of different pieces because I think all the hair would get under them.

[MENTION=167107]Tuco Ramirez[/MENTION] has the best way IMO: Rubber gloves and a water mister. I used little bit of cleaner in the spray too to make it smell nicer ☺

I use multiple steps though:
1) Leaf blower to get all the loose stuff out of the way
2) Vacuum to get the stuff that hasn't woven into the fabric
3) Rubber gloves, a six pack, water sprayer/mister
4) Repeat 2 and 3 as needed

I will say that dog hair has a habit of going everywhere and anywhere: I took apart my wife's Hyundai at one point to do a deep cleaning: I found dog hair (clumps of it) behind paneling. Dog hair of dogs that have moved on years and years before I even knew her.

p.s. The six pack was for me, not the carpets.

I've found that the Kirby pet hair attachment works wonders on getting dog hair out of carpets.

Labrador hair is the worst!

I use full set of canvasback with husky liner tray over. The raised lip on the husky liner tray really helps keep dog hair and beach sand in the tray. I ordered my tuck without rear cargo slider for this reason which also makes it easier.

A trick to the Canvasbacks are to spray them with static guard laundry spray which helps when you go to vacuum.

Just got done, shop vac with the brush attachment. Lint roller on the headliner. Canvas back floor covers, i need to reapply the velco tape so i can install the side panels, but it won't stick to the doors. 3 hrs later interior is free if dog hair and 90% detailed.

This is one of the reasons I didn't buy a TRD Pro or Trail Premium (at the time I purchased my 4Runner). I didn't want a black interior because dog hair would have stuck out like a sore thumb. It wasn't the only criteria, but it was one of the bigger ones. I got a SR5 Premium with tan pleather. Dog hair/fur doesn't stick out as much and I could wipe the seats down easy.

As for how to clean, I just use a rubber glove and it usually wipes the hairs out of the fabric. My wife drives an Outback and I have no idea why the side panels are carpet too. It's a nightmare to clean sometimes.

The "Duluth Trading Cargo Cape" fits the 4runner pretty well and stays up on the sides if you add a bit of Velcro. I have the OEM rubber mat on top to give a better surface for the dog. Wood burner to cut out the tiedown holes and split seat back.
